He even ducked Glen Johnson multiple times. For Christ sake he wouldn't even fight pavlik, Taylor, or Dawson.

He barely beat Hopkins or jones, he just out punched old fighters, Neither win was impressive. For his level of ability, the guy is most famous for underachieving in my eyes.

I do give him major props for his win against prime Kessler though, he doesn't get enough respect for that one.
He dominated Jones. Even showboated which was abit embarrassing considering he was 112 years old.

Don't know when he could have fought Taylor but the rest I agree with.

He pretty much said he'd decided on retiring before the Bernard Hopkins fight because of his constant hand injuries. He knew the next fight would be his swansong and wanted to get the biggest amount of money available like Carl Froch.

Kelly Pavlik then lost to Hopkins horrendously and killed that fight anyway. And no one is coming out of retirement for Chad Dawson
Yeah but he was a young 37. Hadn't really been fighting top level fighters for very long. The first Top 5 ranked guy he fought was in 2006 he retired in 2008.

He should have fought Dawson. It would arguably have been his best win. As would have Pavlik been one of his best wins.

Jones was beyond washed up at that point. He shouldn't of just dominated him, he should of ended his career.

That win is pretty meaningless to me.

I agree entirely. I'm just saying he didn't barely beat him.

And it is completely meaningless, that's not up for discussion.

I more meant it in a way to mean that he barely did any real damage, not that I thought the fights were debatable.

Any less embarrassing than what Roy Jones used to do against the bums he fought during his prime? Roy got a taste of his own medicine.

Calzaghe chased Taylor when he was undisputed champ at MW. Taylor was offered $4m to fight Calzaghe. Turned it down, demanding a completely unrealistic $10m.

Young 37? He had constant hand problems. People always point to the Glen Johnson pull-outs but he pulled out of other fights too including Brian Magee and Woods. Lacy fight had to be postponed because he broke his hand in the previous fight.

He did what he had to do - undisputed champion at SMW, Ring Magazine Light Heavyweight champion. Like I said, no one is going to hang around for Chad Dawson and Pavlik got beat....which was actually before he fought Jones now that I remember. So there was literally no point in sticking around.

                I think Roy would disagree...

                  So what? Still very embarrassing.

Yes, a young 37. Hand problems have nothing to do with your age.

He was still very fresh, at his near best. He best performance was at age 35. He didn't really start fighting top calibur opponents until 2006 (that's if Lacy counts as that)

Well there was point sticking around to actually put some good wins together. Like I said Dawson would probably have been the best win of his career.

Hand problems have a lot to do with boxing though, Dan. Hands are quite important in sport where you use your hands to compete and if you're constantly breaking them, then it's time to retire.

Froch doesn't know if he can get himself motivated for Golovkin but Calzaghe was supposed to come out of retirement and get up for "Fad" Chad Dawson
