Ward and Dirrell were scared to fight each other in the tournament, Ward will look for the path of least resistance. That's not the path of a great fighter.

The same really cant be said for Ward, as he already cleaned out 168 years ago.

Well one could argue that Ward been gone for two years and the landscape has changed and maybe he wants to reclaim his belt being held by fighters that he has never fought in the ring before (DeGale, Jack, Stigeltz).

Golovkin is pushing for a fight with a welterweight.

Canelo will have that WBC belt. He and GGG are roughly the same size on fight night. The difference is GGG actually fights at 160 and Canelo drains himself for a weight advantage against blown up WWs and JMWs.
Canelo is a good fighter and I suspect he will be able to fight hard for a whole round when he doesn't have to dump that extra weight for the 155-157lb div. lol

you have a legitimate point about the landscape changing. Personally fights with Degale or Jack dont interest me, but your position is not without merit.

I disagree though that GGG is "pushing"" for a fight with a welterweight. Nobody, GGG included, thinks that fight is even remotely possible. But when prompted by a reporter with the question, of course GGG says its his dream fight. Its EVERY fighters dream fight to get Floyd. I just dont equate that with "pushing for the fight", which on the other hand is exactly what GGG is rightfully doing with Cotto.....

I guess there are two main causes
the first is that he doesn't want to cut himself off from a Golovkin fight with going up to 175 already and second a possible Degale fight. Other than those two fight it's worthless to stay in 168.Not because of it's bad but because he either beat the others or they are with Haymon so he won't be able to fight them. But I'm okay if he fights either Degale or Golovkin or both in a year. If neither of those guys want to fight him he should go up and beat Kovalev. But I have a feeling that Beterbiev will beat Kovalev in next year and then it would be worthless him again to move up (Beterbiev and Steveonson are bot Haymon fighters)

Sounds like Ward's fans now is going to STFU about GGG having to move up or being exposed with a double standard.

I want both of them to move up but I never dissed Golovkin just because he doesn't go up. However out of the two the moving up is more logical and necessary for Golovin than for Ward. Golovkin is 33 years old beat nobody on the elite level, the only thing he waits is probably the winner of Canelo vs Cotto. I'm fine with that but let's not act like he has any other reason to stay in that ghost division.

So GGG has unfinished business at MW, but at the same time he has more reason to move up than Ward. What unfinished business is it that Ward has at 168?

It's not about unfinished businesses in my opinion, it's more about level of competition.
Golovkin has Canelo vs Cotto winner, Andy Lee, Lemieux, Billie Joe Saunders... The first is an elite opponent worth to waiting for, no doubt, but the other three are nothing worth to wait for...
Ward can fight Degale, Groves, Stieg vs Abraham winner and possibly Golovkin a little later. If he goes up to 175, he has Kovalev, Pascal and Chilemba probably.
So I'm okay with neither of them going up right now but I would like to see both of them going up in one-one and a half year and most importantly I want to see them against each other.
