And then have the nerve to try and tell a fighter how much he is worth.

Fact of the matter is that HBO exploits lower level fighters. The Kirkland's, Monroe's, Tapia's, Caparello's, Mohammedi's, Agnew's etc. These fighters have 0 chance of winning going into the fight, command cheap purses but deliver them great ratings because they get knocked out in highlight reel fashion by elite pound for pound level fighters. Killer ratings at a low cost is great business.

how is pbc different again? oh because they don't have p4p fighters, their ratings are terrible, and their fights are boring? bad ratings at a high cost is a good business model? kovalev made 3 million and pascal 2.75 million and thats more than any pbc fighter has made:thurman-guerrero, broner-porter, lee-quillin, garcia-peterson etc...all made less than that. stop pretending that pbc is doing something completely different when they clearly are not. they are running out of money i guess that's different, they aren't generating any revenue i guess that's different. haymon can't take what doesn't exist so that's true. we might not get to see boring fights if pbc goes under. we all needed to see lara-rodriguez! whyyyyyyy

      Who said anything about PBC?

The discussion is about trying to get Haymon and HBO to work together to make GGG vs. Lara happen and in order to do so, they can't treat Lara like he's Willie Monroe or Cedric Agnew.

I'm not taking sides because both networks have put on pathetic mismatches and I spoke heavily against Lara/Rodriguez when it was made.

just because haymon overpays lara doesn't mean hbo has to. haymon is losing hundreds of millions of dollars for a reason. why should hbo play the who can run out of money first game?

If you are happy with mismatches you are entitled to be. Don't expect me to join you. If you want the best to fight the best you have to compensate them.

This should be a $3-4 million fight.
HBO cut back their boxing budget. I wish they didn't but they did (presumably because their previously inflated purses weren't returning enough profit on the other end), but there's little boxing fans can do.

The Big Dunn mentioned PBC (to answer your above question as to who mentioned PBC).

Golovkin vs Lara is a mismatch, imo. I do hope it gets made though just so NSB can see what will happen (although I'll feel bad for Lara though).

lara might get his career shortened and it'll be all decubas jr's fault

Or, he could derail the GGG hype train with a stunning upset.

No one would be upset if GGG fought and defeated Lara. Most posters are not suggesting Lara will beat GGG. They just want to see GGG fight better opponents while waiting for the Canelo/Cotto winner.

Is there something wrong with this?

He mentioned PBC as an example of how fans are now pro-promoter or pro-network and are against fighters making more money. Which is ****** because fighters have been financially ****d and abused by greedy scumbags for the longest time.

And even if you think GGG/Lara is a mismatch l can't wait to see what your reaction is to his next opponent in September (2 months away) considering it likely won't be Lemieux, Cotto, Canelo, Lee, Johnson, Froch, Ward or even Lara for that matter.
