    • I agree he's a better fight than Khan, Brook and Garcia. That's without a doubt.

But I don't think that matchup will give people what they think they are going to see. Floyd will figure him out early and will cruise to a one sided UD.

      • Most of you say Floyd is boring anyway so what does it matter who he fights?

With Floyd and Lara you shouldn't be paying or even tuning in expecting a war. You shouldn't with with any Lara or Floyd fight.

Delvin Rodriguez was basically a stay busy fight, Lara's resume makes him worthy of a shot at anybody.

You say Rodriguez doesn't warrant him a shot but then you are ignoring his previous fights. Going by that logic, who then?

Danny Garcia who just beat Peterson?
Khan who eeked by hard-hitting Chris Algieri?
Brook who just beat an absolute killer in Frankie Gavin?
Thurman who is about to fight Collazo's corpse?

None of the candidates are coming off great wins. None are a huge draw.
Lara is easily the best and most accomplished fighter out there that Floyd hasn't already tooled. He is also the only one capable of stylistically causing problems.

He is the most deserving fighter that Floyd hasn't fought and the one that offers the most resistance. I think this is the fight to make unless he rematches Cotto which I'd have no problem with but then detractors will say he already beat him 9-3, true enough.

He has the timing, he's hard to hit, he's a great counter-puncher, and he's a great athlete... He's everything that Floyd is but a southpaw. Khan is a joke of an opponent at this point, and Thurman won't be able to outbox Floyd... If Floyd could avoid Manny's power, he'll avoid Thurman's... Most importantly, Floyd has a bigger reach and speed advantage vs Thurman.... Floyd might only slightly edge out Lara in speed. It will be a close chess match.. Lara is a real 154lb as well, Floyd won't be able to impose his physicality on Lara.
It really does. Floyd and his fans deserve a battle of 2 true boxers. Sweet science x2.

Right he's the better fighter, thus the better fighter should GET THE FIGHT... The problem is no matchup is going to give the people what they want to see... So to hell with what the people want... Look, this is Floyd Mayweather, one way or another, he's going to dupe the public into paying for his fight... So why not Erislandy Lara? At least he has the tools to actually hit Floyd... Besides Manny, who else might be able to actually land consistently clean enough on Floyd right now? GGG? too big... Thurman? Too slow... Literally, there is one option... Yeah, people will scream and moan they don't want the fight...but it's the best fight available right now... Maybe Floyd is too good and beat everyone... But I would rather pay to watch a slow boring chessmatch between Lara and Floyd, then pay to watch Thurman maybe, just maybe (if i wish upon a star) to land a big punch down the end of the stretch... And I certaintly don't want to watch Khan get picked apart at end of Floyd's long reach....

Say what you will about Lara but he has the reach and is very, very good at distance control (like Floyd)...Thus a chessmatch...

And no way in hell does Floyd "put on a clinic" with a guy like Lara

And more importantly, NO ONE ELSE has a better chance of beating Floyd at this current time... except maybe GGG but that's unrealistic.
All of those opponents including GUERRERO are much more entertaining than Lara. Do you know the difference between viable and feasible? It is not going to sell for shit! Get this dumb idea out of your head amigo. The fight must sell, I don't care if Lara can 12-0 Floyd, and neither will any broadcaster; the bottom line is will it sell on PPV? Only opponents who engage and appeal to the mass audience will get the shot. Guerrero had a marketable backgound. Floyd is already considered boring by casuals and Lara was getting boo'd last night in an empty venue where half the people got free tickets.

I stayed up 2-4 am last night to watch LARA, trust me I'm as hardcore as it gets. I'll be doing the same tonight for Walters-Marriga and Verdojo.

Well, then that's a serious problem with the perception of boxing that needs to be changed somehow... I'm not sure how....But it's ridiculous that people can't be entertained by Lara's showcase of the sweet science that he put on last night, landing beautiful left hands at will... Lara is a top athlete in the hardest sport, and it's still not enough... Something is seriously messed up....Maybe it's because the U.S. is a pussified country, who knows...

                    • As much as I like Lara, nobody will buy a PPV to watch him.

The Canelo fight upset a lot of people (obviously not me), who thought he was boring. People are not going to pay to watch him fight now.
