Respectfully, will the "true" ppv buying audience-mainstream, casual, white fans-choose 2 non Americans, one of whom barely communicates in English, over Floyd, even with all his baggage?
This was what I was trying to explain to Tunney/Freedom about Wlad. It wasn't that blacks/Hispanics didn't like him, it was the mainstream US fan that didn't, most likely because he wasn't American.
I agree Cotto/Canelo is a huge fight, but if you look at Canelo's sales when he headlined a PPV, coupled with the low sales of cotto/Martinez (bob's opinion, not mine), this fight may not do what diehard fans of each guy think.

More important though, Guerrero was only marginally more popular than Alexander, largely because of his fight against Berto. He's never been a big attraction.
Again, if Mexicans supported these fighters when they fight Floyd, seems like they don't support them before or after.

Would the powers that be replace a fighter that sells 800k on a bad night with a fighter that sells 450-550k on a good night, especially when the cost to see the 800k fighter is more expensive?Last edited by The Big Dunn; 06-10-2015, 03:32 PM.

He doesn't have to fight his mandatories.

He'd be Kell Brook, only with a much bigger US fanbase and more accomplishments.
Khan was basically a done deal until Maidana upset Broner.
Broner was and is never an option. He won't fight Floyd.

How many buys do you think Floyd-Alexander would have done?

Guerrero was chosen because he was Mexican. The Alexander tweet was sent out as a negotiating ploy by Floyd to get Guerrero to sign the contract because he needed a Mexican opponent to fight on a Mexican holiday.

Because obviously it takes two to tango. If Floyd Mayweather fought Erislandy Lara, it would completely bomb on PPV in comparison to his other fights.
2. How many PPV's did Guerrero sell before Mayweather? After?
