Apart from that childish mistake, I agree with you. I don't see the need for HBO to compete in this foolish, school yard game with SHO/GBP/TBE/TMT/Mayweather/Haymon/Elerbe or who ever. But it would be quite funny seeing HBO drive it home lol
I thought you said you never make mistakes like that?

It's a myth because cable companies don't ask for ethnicity to buy cable; so it's no way to prove who buys them. It's something boxing promoters say to sound good. Mexicans didn't jump out there seat to buy any of Marquez PPV's that didn't involve Manny or Floyd or they did line up to buy Canelo's last two PPV's.

If it's a myth, why does Mayweather insist on fighting on Mexican holiday weekends against usually Mexican or Hispanic fighters?

Meh, just get the fight done, i couldn't care less whether it lands on sept, oct or nov. if it falls on sept ill gladly read about the mayweather fight (which is what i normally do), and watch canelo cotto live.

Those dates do not have much competition from other major US sporting events going on so those dates are ideal for big ppv boxing matches.

1st Saturday in May, NBA and NHL playoffs are in the 1st round and baseball is barely 25 games in. 2nd sat in September, college football is just starting so most major teams are not in "big" games, baseball season is winding down, hoops and hockey haven't started, NFL isn't on Saturday.

Ppv success has little to do with a just one demographic of fans. That is totally a myth. Being a huge star on Ppv in the us is about crossover appeal, meaning all demographics know who u are, blacks, whites, mexicans, women, young adults etc. The only mexican star that has crossed over like that was ODLH. And he wasn't even popular amongst mexicans the way 300k buys canelo was. I think u should stop listening to the crap that goes on in here about America. It's highly erroneous.

Yet Mayweather has sold over a million PPV's fighting another African-American, a Puerto Rican, etc etc. It's not about Mexicans buying the PPV or they would support these same fighters when they aren't fighting Mayweather.

Those dates have more to do with other sports. May is the perfect month because there is no football, no basketball, no hockey and baseball is just beginning. Cinco De Mayo isn't even a Mexican holiday.

It's not really about anything. They like to get drunk and watch boxing on holidays.

Canelo could ruin Floyd's PPV numbers and take most of his money but in turn he would lose a huge portion of his own numbers and money.

They will just move the date.

Shane Mosley and Miguel Cotto are well established names who had been on PPV before.

Unlike Amir Khan or Kell Brook whose fanbases in America are virtually non-existent.
