All sports properties are different. Boxing is a violent, non-family friendly sport. It has a very limited audience and can never support the amount of advertising revenue required to support putting top level fights on free television. You cannot pay out millions of dollars in purses each show and have less than that in advertising dollars coming in.

      IT DOES NOT WORK.

Boxing cannot be compared to team sports or any sport in which a fan favorite athlete competes on a weekly basis or in every major tournament such as tennis. It is sad that some people cannot get that into their heads. Boxing is not pro wrestling where you can tune in every Monday to see your favorite hero and heel in the ring. With some fighters, you are lucky to see them twice a YEAR. This is not conducive to building a following among casual fans.

It cannot be put clearer than that.

STOP TRYING TO COMPARE BOXING TO OTHER SPORTS.

        LOL, what?

Internet debate rule number 11: If you bring up somebody you are arguing getting owned without other people really backing up that point, you are probably on the short end of that debate.

I am right here, and I am perfectly happy with my points and don't feel they have been refuted at all. You are welcome to keep trying though I have time to kill today.

How do you know "it does not work"? Have you tried it? Have you ever tried to set up your own PBC?

I mean how do you just know all this stuff? You act like Haymon and his investors just sit around reading Boxingscene and saying "Barcham says this will never work. Pull out guys, it's over." Face it you have no clue as to whether this will work or not. It's just your opinion..

          • F1 is just not popular in the US, on the other hand the highest paid athlete for how many years has been an American boxer with a style that is for the connoisseur of the sport? So I am going to go with boxing in general has more US potential than F1 does but maybe if F1 gets an actual American team that can compete they could start to change that.
Mayweather is an aberration. Remove him from boxing, as will be done soon, and the salary of all top boxers per year will be lucky to match one F1 driver's salary or one top European Soccer star's salary.

If the only color that interests you is green, you certainly would not be investing in boxing.

Here's the top 100 highest paid athletes list. Other than Floyd and Manny who will not be there next year, find me the next boxer on the list. Oh! Look at that! I'm shocked! After Wlad at number 63, there is not another fighter in the top 100! WHAT A SHOCK!!!!!

Do you think Haymon is the first person to try to put boxing on network television? Did history start with your birth? Many have tried in the past and all have failed. And they DID have network deals and did not pay for their air time and they had much lower purses and expenses. And they still FAILED.

And YES, it is MY opinion, just as your comments reflect YOUR opinion. The difference is that I look at the facts from what has happened in the past and do not make foolish comparisons between boxing and major league team sports.

Really now... so boxing has never been successful on network television. Ever.

I'm done with this. You are so full of s*** it's not even funny..

Boxing is a star driven sport, sometimes there are more than others but there is always a lead dog. The pay scale has been kind of suspect in boxing compared to major sports, but PBC is paying well. So better pay means more athletes especially smaller ones not favored by the major American sports could find a home in boxing since that could become their best option.

I don't invest in boxing, because I don't have that big of a bankroll but I am a big believer in the greater the risk the greater the reward. To start a sports league is a huge risk, and boxing itself it notoriously risky. However, just because it is risky doesn't mean it is doomed to fail and it might just be the right time to take that risk and if they make it work the rewards will be huge.

                  • LOL NBC sports exec wants hockey players to shave their playoff beards so fans can see more of their attractive faces to connect more with the fans and gain more viewership.

Yea they are real happy with their rating for hockey~
