I'm done with this. You are so full of s*** it's not even funny..
As a weekly standalone show? No, boxing has never been successful. Boxing had most of it's television success as part of Wide World of Sports every Saturday on ABC and with the occasional big fight in prime time on weeknights.

Yea they are real happy with their rating for hockey~
Not my fault that hockey is too fast and complex a sport for Americans. Maybe they should bring back Peter Puck to teach the rules or the 'laser streaks' trailing the puck so that Yanks could keep up with the speed of the game. Not every sport can run at a snail's pace like baseball and NFL football.
And the ratings for hockey still put PBC to shame. But then again, there is that nagging little thing that you refuse to acknowledge... there is more than one game on per week and fans can see their favorite team play on a regular basis, not just once or twice per year.

Why does that matter? If you only get to see your favorite once or twice it would make seeing them appointment TV rather than well they are playing the Coyotes in a mid week game that not many people will ever care about.

Who wants to see Tampa Bay other than people in Tampa Bay. The Blackhawks might have a somewhat national appeal given their past success and being an original 6 team.

NHL ratings aren't good and an average game draws less than a 1, their best event can't even pull a 2 in the key demographic.

In baseball Americas pastime, the average fan is like 55, so their ratings in the key demo are downright awful.

This is what I was thinking as well. The beginning is always about investing. I'll wait for the end of the year before I judge.

You really haven't a clue regarding why other sports get the huge contracts and why boxing doesn't. And the sad thing is that nothing anyone tells you or tries to explain to you will matter. You simply are not capable of understanding the differences. I can see that this is a complete waste of my time and you probably do not follow any other sport other than boxing as it fits perfectly within your limited perception. You just keep living in your own private world where all sports are the same.

You haven't done any of that. Sports get huge contracts because they have to get eyeballs live so no fast forwarding through commercials.

No one really tried it for a long time as certain players were able to milk the system. Fair enough since this was a financial beneficial but that model is basically no longer sustainable considering HBO has slashed its budget continually. Thus making such a risk much more viable.

Thank you for admitting you have no real responses to what I posed, because you have no real facts to back up what you are saying. to me you should apply what you said to yourself under the "he who smelt it dealt it theory", there is no need to project what you think about yourself onto me.

            • Losing value and losing revenue is not the same.

Anyone who's ever entered into venture capital knows there's a risk of losing some money initially. As for PBC burning money - lol that's what the whole model - and pretty much every beginning start-up these days - are based on.

Nothing about this surprises me at all. Anyone who knows anything about business knows that investor money is there to be burned. That's why it's called a "burn rate".

They are building a brand like the UFC which will have a value based on viewers and data, not on income from tickets etc.

There is no possible way to respond to your posts because you live in a world where boxing is the equal of any and all other sports. You are incapable of seeing the differences. Do you realize that a major league sport provides a quantity of content that boxing can never equal? Why would any network give boxing a contract such as hockey or baseball has when they provide content on a daily basis to satisfy markets all over the continent while boxing MAY provide one decent fight per week? It just does not work out the way you want it to.

For one thing, there simply are not enough boxers to go around. Say what you want about local teams and local markets, but that is exactly what powers major league sports. How many cities have a home town fighter to cheer for? Not too many. But that is beyond you ability to comprehend. You cannot see beyond the end of Haymon's nose, and he does not have a very big nose.

Tell us all exactly how boxing can compete with a major team sport. How does boxing compete with the Superbowl? The World Series? The Stanley Cup? The World Cup of Soccer? With one Mayweather - Pacquaio fight every 10 or 15 years that leaves a bad taste in the mouths of casual fans?

Boxing cannot even compete with college football or basketball. Worldwide, it is probably not in the top 100 sports in popularity. But you expect it to get a contract to rival major league team sports.

Like I asked in another post... what color is the sky in your world?

Boxing can compete because it is quite simply fist fighting. People are always drawn to that sort of thing. Like I said it is one of the easiest sports to really connect with the athletes because it is all bare to see (both physically speaking and mentally because you can see a guy break down or see him pull through the tough times).

Boxing is also one of the sports where essentially anyone can compete because of weight classes, where as a lot of other sports are looking for certain body types which are very rare.

I think a lot of boxing popularity issues are down the the fact the sport has been run in a piss poor fashion for a century. Maybe PBC is more of the same but it does seem to be pushing is a slightly different direction that may bring a bit of direction to the sport. What you also say is why it is important for boxing to have a brand like PBC that people can actually associate with boxing at the high end, thus making those events mean something regardless of the guys in the ring. It will take a lot of work to get there obviously.

You obviously feel threatened by PBC are you Ken Hershman?

If that was the case, hockey should be the most popular sport in history and they should be encouraging fighting instead of trying to take it out of the game.

Every time I think you cannot come out with anything dumber, you surprise the hell out of me and succeed in doing just that!

Hey! Here is an idea for a new sport... live gunfights! Everyone loves a western so why not have live gunfights every week on TV? Americans will absolutely love it and you have a built in audience with **********s and NRA loonies. The NRA could even sponsor it and it could be bigger than the NFL!!! Everyone can compete because in the US any idiot can buy a gun and no real training required! We can call it 'American Gunslinger'.

                      Hyperbole doesn't change anything~

Hockey has fighting but it is not all about fist fighting.

You calling names and insulting me doesn't do anything for your point, it just makes you look like a jackass who has no idea how to properly talk as an adult for someone who is supposed to be damn near 60.
