I'm glad they're coming out of the closet. I am adding each and everyone of them to my ignore list.

Chad dawson was a flop on PPv,,, never seen again

      Ward can't PPv at all

Neither can kovolev, ggg, garcia, lucas, etc

If cotto was a flop they wouldn't bring him back so many times

Cotto vs Canelo will make more ppv sales than anything GGG vs Cotto could ever make at this moment

are we as boxing fans living in our own bubbles where we are slow to accept change? maybe people won't buy a ggg ppv? you could say the same about cotto because cotto only fights on ppv when he has a name opponent. so if cotto knows that you need a big name opponent to have a ppv why don't the fans?

also some people proclaim amir khan is one of boxing biggest stars but look at his last fight. 770k viewers, 7k attendance, 1 million purse. am i missing something? should i follow the numbers or what fans say? is cotto a mega star while ggg is a nobody? is khan a huge star that just doesn't attract any fans/money?
Incomplete comparison, but that's your m.o. so whatever:

-Cotto-Geale in New York brought in more money than Golovkin-Monroe in California (or any Golovkin fight ever for that matter)

-Cotto's purse doesn't include the PR PPV proceeds (which likely added a healthy bit to that total)

-Cotto-Rodriguez, Cotto's return fight after two wipeout losses and an admitted soft touch, still trumped the biggest rating that Golovkin has ever drawn for a fight in his life.

          try again later

You cannot compare gate figures or ratings for a fighter such as Cotto who has been fighting in the US for how many years now? 12? with that of a fighter who has been fighting in the US for 2 years and is just learning to speak the language and has no built in fan base to draw from.

How do you think Cotto would draw in Germany, where GGG fought most of his pro career, after 2 years? Think there are a lot of Puerto Ricans over in Europe? Or maybe Moscow? Think Cotto will ever be invited to headline a fight in Monaco? No, I don't either.

I'm sure cotto could headline Monaco in a 800 seat capacity arena lol

At least Cotto doesn't have to go and act like he's mexican just to build a fan base

Daniel Geale -- a tune up for Cotto

Daniel Geale -- GGG's greatest pro accomplishment

Cotto at 34 -- fourth weight class

Golovkin at 33 -- still in his first class

Cotto keeps -- moving up in class and beating guys bigger than him

Golovkin keeps -- running away from Ward and guys who would represent challenges

Cotto's MW accomplishments -- in two fights greater, than GGGs MW resume

Golovkin's MW accomplishments -- hinges on beating a washed up former Jr. WW

Cotto will always be -- greater than GGG

Golovkin will always be -- a flash in the pan

                  Cotto/GGG will look like -- Garcia/Matthyse
Not even much of a Cotto fan anymore after the 4 tune ups in a row,
but heck, this is somewhat true. Cotto has done so much more in his career when taking into account age. And he's been all over the place, unlike GGG. And at this rate I don't think GGG will even remotely match Cotto in terms of legacy.
Though I'd like GGG to get the MW belt, I really hope he starts hopping all over the place as well. The middleweight division is DEAD, and if Cotto keeps knocking middleweights out, it makes me suspect that the competition is really worse than I thought imaginable. To a point where I'm thinking why GGG would actually be wasting his talent fighting that type of competition. I still see Cotto as a dude who can make 147 rather easily. So I'm sort of confused at how he can be knocking out people weighing in that much heavier than him.

Cotto's tickets were higher priced by 66%. So no...GGG is not even close yet.

The margin in popularity between Cotto and Golovkin is very slim nowadays. Comparing numbers of live gate and TV ratings in US is actually a huge compliment to Golovkin's popularity and speaks volumes. I have little doubt that worldwide Golovkin is now more popular fighter than Cotto. If GGG fights at stadium in Russia against Russian boxer he could probably do better live gate than Froch at Wembley. As for Kazakhstan, I doubt that there is an arena big enough to accommodate all his fans.
However GGG is a very dangerous fighter. Fighting him now is a sure loss on a resume, but what is actually probematic is the way in which GGG breaks his opponents will and resistance. GGG is a soul taker. His opponents are never the same again afterwards. Usually durable Geale is one such example. If Cotto ever fights GGG that would be his last fight. (I believe they will fight at some point in 2016, because it is a big money fight.)
As for Cotto, he is clearly better than Golovkin in only one aspect of the game, he has much better potential risk/reward ratio. He is beatable, which is a blessing and helped him to make a memorable career))). In this regard he is one of the best in today's boxing, even better than Canelo.
