Yeah, his performance against Floyd is very overrated. You can give him 3 rounds of that fight if you're generous.
Debunking myths 101. Cotto did better than anyone (or most) against Floyd

The reason why people say that is because although Cotto only won a few rounds, it WAS one of Mayweather's toughest fights. And in my opinion one of his best wins because he had to work for every minute to earn that paycheck, Cotto made him work and brought the best out of him. You can find floors in Mayweather but no one can exploit it, he won't be fully appreacaiated until he retires. I don't know how but the dude is just unbeatable. Only Hearns and Leonard would have had a chance imo.
P.S I like Pacquiao and Mayweather equally.Comment

Well they were, people watch the fight in Floyd tinted glasses and give him rounds by default.Basically the TS wants judges to give Manny rounds he didn't win on the basis of his calling them "close" or "swing" when they really weren't. He is pretending the rounds were "tied" and the judges just gave them to Floyd.
The reality is Manny only won 2 rounds clearly, 4 and 6. I thought he won 9 as well. SOme have him winning another round. He lost by a wide margin. There was never a point where anyone thought he was winning or even close.
And Cotto DID do better against Manny than Floyd did, he landed better punches, had more moments, so did Marquez.
FACT's are for some strange reason Floyd doesn't have to have any significant offensive output to beat Manny, he just avoids punishment and wins automatically. The onus is on his opponent to dominate and if he doesn't Floyd wins by default

Well Mayweather landed and had some very good offensive output in that fight. Unlike against Pac. You can't find a glimmer of his offensive output against Cotto in the Pac fight, there's no comparison.Cotto made Mayweather work for his victory. I had Mayweather winning comfortably on points, but in the mid rounds Cotto gave him something to think about. It just goes to show that you need to have Mayweather thinking for the duration of the fight as once he finds a rhythm, he can pretty much sweep up blocks of rounds: he beat Cotto because he controlled the first and third third of the fight, whilst being competitive in the second.
Exactly lol, you see clear offensive work here, combintions, landed punches, you know how fights are supposed to be won LANDING PUNCHES... but he struggled to land on Pac, who showed a better defense than Floyd.Floyd missed so many shots the most in his career when he fought a supposedly defenseless pacquiao who was past his best and slower.
Floyd hit cotto cleanly hard and solid, he had cotto bleeding, hurt.
Cotto best **** is to land left hooks to the body and head. But floyd will just land the right hand and move and hold.
Floyd never lies.Comment

Nobody wants to see a Cotto vs Floyd rematch, it would just be a dumb waste of time as is any Floyd "fight".Comment

Which is why Mayweather would smoke Pacquiao. He got offensive with Cotto because he had to, same with Maidana and Augustus.
He was able to beat Pacquiao without getting into a fight.Comment
