If there was a mechanic and he could do an engine swap for $5,000 but another guy is offering $25,000, I'm not going to tell the mechanic to help the guy who came in first. I'm going to tell him to get paid. It's not boxing, it's simply a philosophy of life. I don't see what's so wrong about being paid as much as you can for the job you do.

If you're okay with a guy basically fighting bums until he gets a big fight, good for you. I find more sack and skill in moving up in weight. Call me a new school boxing fan, whatever you want to call me but maximum paychecks have ALWAYS been boxing. Is there any sport that doesn't revolve around money? Is there anything in life not affected by money? No, but we have to make boxing NOT about that for some reason. If you're dealing with reality though, you're biased.

and what stellar paydays await at 168???

    Chavez turned down $7 mil
    Froch has gone missing
    Ward is in tuneup mode
    Degale? no big money there
    Dirrell? yeah, right lol

so where is all the big money at 168? even if you have tunnel vision and can only focus on "but ward doe", that is only 1 fight, and Ward would want all the money. So where exactly are these huge paydays at 168????

You have a very difficult time grasping things, man. This is very simple. Golovkin wants to unify AND take on big names/big money fights. That's it. It's really not hard to understand.

Hopkins was an example. A very good example being that he was in a very similar boat than Golovkin (two title holders wouldn't fight Hopkins for years because of Don King, third title holder was a guy who won the title at middleweight after moving up). There are plenty of others. Marvin Hagler fought for years working his ass off before getting big fights in Duran/Hearns/Leonard.

And so what if Golovkin would be the favorite? LOL what a weird thing to mention. Oh Golovkin would be the favorite, no need to fight then, carry on.

Really strange analogy to use. Golovkin is trying to do his job, be the best in his weight class, unify the titles. Cotto has a belt. Golovkin is mandatory to that belt. Pretty logical to see what should be happening here. If you're Golovkin you want that fight. Anyone would.

I want him to unify the middleweight division.

Middleweight has always been my favorite division, along with Welterweight. Such amazing history. Perfect balance of speed and power.

After Hagler/Leonard, Bernard Hopkins spent years collecting all the belts and unified all the titles. After Taylor, those belts got scattered around. But the lineage stayed true - Hopkins-Taylor-Pavlik-Martinez and now Cotto. This division is one of the only divisions in boxing where the lineage traces back over a decade. It would be a damn shame if that linage is broken because the current lineal champ doesn't want to fight anyone.

I find more sack and skill in moving up in weight.
So what happens with guys like Kovalev or if you like a fighter at light heavyweight? They aren't special unless they move up to cruiserweight? God forbid you like a heavyweight.

Call me a new school boxing fan, whatever you want to call me but maximum paychecks have ALWAYS been boxing.
Oh ok, you prefer boxing contracts and paydays over the actual fights. That's weird but everyone is different. I guess if you really care about someone else's bank account that makes sense, but not me. I actual care about the sport and have long wanted the sport of boxing to work on integrity and actually make sense, follow the rules & regulations. I love boxing so much I actually care about the sport as a whole, not just one fighters bank account.

Yeah of course every sport makes money. But the Seahawks didn't get to say "hey we don't want to play the Patriots in the superbowl, we're going to pick the Dallas Cowbows even though they lost and are in the same division. It's a way bigger payday, it will sell more!"

You see in other sports there are rules and regulations. A format that is logical and makes sense. That's how I want boxing. Of course that isn't reality, but that doesn't mean fans should ever be content about it. Fans should always demand unification bouts, the best fighting the best, champions fighting the #1 challenger, etc.

Sign the paper! It doesn't cost anything extra!
You're wrong. It could cost them millions.

you are trying to apply logic and critical thinking to this, which is a waste of time. All you need to know to understand guys like Peasant and a few others is this:

If THEIR guy does something, its ok, perfectly understandable, and 100% defensible.

If another fighter they dont like does the same thing, they are coward ***-boys, unworthy of the belt.

                Understand?

Cotto has done it all and really, there is NO comparison between a guy like Cotto and a Journeyman Killer named GGG.

I see now, why Cotto is conducting himself as he has been lately. "This is about respect," in cotto's own words. He is NOT about to let some hyped up Rookie, act like he is on the level. GGG however great he looks in that shyt division, has not done 1/4 of what Cotto has done in this sport. Most men who earn their stripes, take issue with rookies trying to come in and eat of their sweat equity. Earn it bytches!

Rookie?? I believe, and I think most fans would agree, that GGG has earned a shot at the lineal middleweight title. And to think otherwise is, in my opinion, rather ridiculous.

Yeah, I wonder if life is easier if you swan along oblivious to logic. Kind of difficult to get ahead in life but maybe life just looks different (and better?) as you can just ignore another's arguments and consider yourself right all of the time.

Yeah - when Peasant comes up with **** like that he is obviously just trolling. It's obvious that Cotto Team see very high risk/lower reward in a GGG fight and I for one am ok with that. Why fight GGG when you can make more money fighting Canelo or Mayweather.
What I am not ok with is that he holds the belt hostage and the WBC condone it.
