Then do not sign and be stripped of the title. Cannot have it both ways. As much as Cotto and Roach may dream of it, they do not run the boxing world or the WBC.

In theory that is true, but history tells us differently. For DECADES that WBC has shown that they are nothing but thirsty **********s chasing a nickel. They have no honor.........

just remember what they did to rubio, he couldnt get a fight with maravilla so he was paid step aside for cotto-maravilla fight and he was supposed to fight the winner, did cotto fight him? of course not, wbc found a way ...
ggg better dont take any money or he might not get a title shot in the future..
he needs to force wbc to give him a title shot or at least expose them...

He is only going after winner of Canelo/Cotto which means he only wants the money. If he wanted to unify he wouldn't entertain any fights at 168. He's tried to get two, the "unify the division" argument doesn't hold any water.
          Thats exactly right man !

If its all about unification, why mention Chavez, Froch, and Mayweather ?

          Why not mention Lee ?

Golovkin does want the titles/money, sure...... but this game is about risk/reward, and Golovkin is extremely well-managed.

No one in the past had the balls to stand up to the WBC. Golovkin and K2 do have the balls. GGG will not take any step aside deal that does not include a signed agreement, by both Cotto and Canelo, that the winner will fight GGG. That signed agreement will be legally binding which is why neither Cotto nor Canelo wish to sign it. Neither of them want to get in the ring with GGG.

No agreement, no deal and GGG forces WBC to abide by their own mandatory rules. As Loeffler said after the Monroe fight, Golovkin has spent enough of his career waiting on empty promises and he is not going to waste any more time. He wants the title more than a signed agreement to fight a year or so down the line or step aside money and they will do what they must to get that title.

For anybody? Outside Cotto/Canelo... don't think anybody else gets paid more name wise.

Willie Monroe Jr got paid crap because most he's done was won Boxcino and was a nothing fight.

Almost every other opponent got close to what GGG was make. In his come up from 2012-2013... they were making close to what he was making.

Geale Got 600k to GGG's 750k and that was suppose to be his best opponent thus far.

Rubio got 450k but that was just as close to Lee's purse against Quillin. If Lee, especially now would've fought Golovkin he'd be in the same category as Mackling and Geale before they fought Golovkin

People can talk all they want, but ultimately you cannot put a gun to cotto/canelo/martinez/sturm/quillin/froch/chavez head and force them to fight. You can only fight the opponents that agree to face you.

As for how GGG is being moved, I think his time with Saurland was a complete waste. Since he has been with K2 things are moving MUCH faster, but he has some catching up to do. Cotto has been on premium tv for the past decade, and GGG for only the last 2 years, but they are selling similar numbers of tickets, so GGG has been making good progress. The next hurdle though is to test GGG on ppv and see if people will buy him......

I think Kovalev is currently the best at 175
                Good post !

The bold above, is my criticism of Golovkin.

Mayweather / Hoya / Pacquiao / Cotto / Canelo, have all done that.

                Golovkin has not.

Cotto/Canelo would help Golovkins career in that regard - should he beat them - as would P4P guys like Ward..... thats all I'm saying.

When Mayweather was trying to get established, he went up and fought Hoya to gain that market-share and recognition..... the same with Pacquiao..... Canelo fought Mayweather when he was establishing himself..... so considering that Golovkin is not a PPV fighter, and does not have a big market-share, and because middleweight does not have star-names, and because Golovkin has stated that he will fight at 168..... I dont see why a money excuse is used whenever Wards name is mentioned.

Golovkin should be looking at guys like Ward as an opportunity for validation, not as a payday.

..... who, would just so happen to be Golovkins best win !

You would have a great point if not for that fact.

People are bashing Golovkin because they can.

The dude is being painted as a killer, so he needs to carve himself a resume.

                    The deal is this....

                    1) Golovkin has used this excuse..... " errybody duckin me doe "

                    2) Lara would be Golovkins best win, and has offered to fight him at 160

                    3) Knowledgable fans know that this game is all about styles, and we know that there is a reason why Able Sanchez started stuttering everytime Wards name got mentioned

Golovkin looks great when he has a C-grade opponent standing in front of him.

OK, they seem to acknowledge Ward now, but that only just started happening..... earlier, Sanchez would brush it off and change the subject.

It would be a challenge, and a difficult style..... for a guy who is being criticised for his level of opposition.

I know some other title holders can't or don't want to fight ggg, but how long is he going to keep saying he wants to unify. only title he can probably unify is the one Lee is holding
If Golovkin makes it worthwhile, they will fight him, no question.

You can insist that you are trying really hard, but that only works for so long.

I have yet to see him in a meaningful fight, and I'm not holding my breath.
