Degale? no big money there
Dirrell? yeah, right lol
so where is all the big money at 168? even if you have tunnel vision and can only focus on "but ward doe", that is only 1 fight, and Ward would want all the money. So where exactly are these huge paydays at 168????

Hopkins was an example. A very good example being that he was in a very similar boat than Golovkin (two title holders wouldn't fight Hopkins for years because of Don King, third title holder was a guy who won the title at middleweight after moving up). There are plenty of others. Marvin Hagler fought for years working his ass off before getting big fights in Duran/Hearns/Leonard.
And so what if Golovkin would be the favorite? LOL what a weird thing to mention. Oh Golovkin would be the favorite, no need to fight then, carry on.
Really strange analogy to use. Golovkin is trying to do his job, be the best in his weight class, unify the titles. Cotto has a belt. Golovkin is mandatory to that belt. Pretty logical to see what should be happening here. If you're Golovkin you want that fight. Anyone would.
I want him to unify the middleweight division.
Middleweight has always been my favorite division, along with Welterweight. Such amazing history. Perfect balance of speed and power.
After Hagler/Leonard, Bernard Hopkins spent years collecting all the belts and unified all the titles. After Taylor, those belts got scattered around. But the lineage stayed true - Hopkins-Taylor-Pavlik-Martinez and now Cotto. This division is one of the only divisions in boxing where the lineage traces back over a decade. It would be a damn shame if that linage is broken because the current lineal champ doesn't want to fight anyone.
So what happens with guys like Kovalev or if you like a fighter at light heavyweight? They aren't special unless they move up to cruiserweight? God forbid you like a heavyweight.
Oh ok, you prefer boxing contracts and paydays over the actual fights. That's weird but everyone is different. I guess if you really care about someone else's bank account that makes sense, but not me. I actual care about the sport and have long wanted the sport of boxing to work on integrity and actually make sense, follow the rules & regulations. I love boxing so much I actually care about the sport as a whole, not just one fighters bank account.
Yeah of course every sport makes money. But the Seahawks didn't get to say "hey we don't want to play the Patriots in the superbowl, we're going to pick the Dallas Cowbows even though they lost and are in the same division. It's a way bigger payday, it will sell more!"
You see in other sports there are rules and regulations. A format that is logical and makes sense. That's how I want boxing. Of course that isn't reality, but that doesn't mean fans should ever be content about it. Fans should always demand unification bouts, the best fighting the best, champions fighting the #1 challenger, etc.Last edited by Beater_of_ass; 06-08-2015, 06:31 PM.

If another fighter they dont like does the same thing, they are coward ***-boys, unworthy of the belt.
Understand?
The only people bytching about the opposing fan base, are those who struggle with opposing views. Some people are simply angered when you call them on their bullshyt. Actually, I think I do a pretty good job of not allowing my sense of "right and wrong" to be altered simply by which guy is involved. BS is BS, regardless of origin. It even cost me relationships with certain fighters I represented in the past because I called them on their bullsh@t. (privately, of course).
I dont get carried away with the "fan" stuff. Sure, I like GGG alot, and think he is the real deal. I think he breaks Cotto in half. But at some point he will be gone and I will enjoy watching someone else. I certainly wouldnt defend him pulling some nonsense just because I enjoy his fights.....
Edit: Let me add this. Should GGG go to 168 and then try and dry guys down to 164 claiming he is "too small", I'll be right here calling BS.....Last edited by OnePunch; 06-08-2015, 08:02 PM.

All of a sudden Ward has become the savior of the day and somehow, GGG is now obligated to move up and challenge his non-existent ass. How about Ward move up and face Kovalev?

If anyone needs to move somewhere, Cotto needs to move his happy ass back down to 154. I thought Cotto was this badass now, some unstoppable beast? People should be clamoring for the GGG showdown but instead people are running for the hills to ensure the fight doesn't happen.
