There was never that deal in place. Heck there isn't even a set deal for Canelo/Cotto next. All HBO could do is tell Cotto they have the option for his next opponent and that opponent everyone knows is Canelo.
I don't mind Cotto talking **** about Canelo if that's indeed who he plans to fight next. I think it builds the fight up.
However I don't understand why he would ***** all over GGG. Saying GGG is trash and hasn't fought anyone all the while he makes a voluntary, not mandatory but voluntary defense against an opponent in GGG's resume.
It's hypocritical and not the reason fans tuned in to see Cotto in the first place.Comment

Cotton has become completely delusional... Too many shots to the head and too many up his a$$... I'll be happy when this fool is gone from the sport as well. For an individual who has lost almost every important fight in his career outside of Martinez and yet he believes he is the best of the sport. He is a fool and a delusional one at that. I hope Geale pulls out on upset and ends this fools overly hyped Career. Enough said!!!Comment

LOL yup. I think "alit had a career" cuz he didn't wait to be asked lol he'll just come out "ill beat that chump, ill beat this chump" etc etc.
All he is saying is that no one is going to dictate his career. He'll fight them at "his time" basically. So GGG can either wait till after the canelo fight, which imo is next unless he starts with that mexican date bs, and then GGG for his 3rd and last fight.
It's 3 fights people, 2 if you already got geale out the way. Don't worry little GGG fans.
The problem is Mayweather.
Actually, the problem is a division full of also-ran welters.
If Mayweather cannot land a meaningful opponent for September, and it does not look like he will, then he could fight Cotto for his MW strap..... meaning that Cotto would likely select Canelo after that..... leaving a potential Cotto/Golovkin fight at least 18 months away, at the very earliest.
I highly doubt that Cotto/Golovkin will happen, and I couldnt care less.
Golovkin has never had a meaningful fight, he is just looking to pad his record and land a massive payday off Cottos name.
The fight will never happen.
Cotto is too smart to be used as a stepping stone for Golovkin.
Golovkin will have to make his own way.Comment

So if Cotto agreed to Canelos terms they would be going head-to-head with Mayweather, meaning that Cotto would earn siginificantly less than usual?
Canelo will get that fight, as soon as he realises what he is.... the B-side.Comment

Clottey's fight was a long time ago too and it could've gone either way.Comment

Translation: Nelo is next but don't try to discredit my legacy or resume by gassing the public with bs lies like Miguel Cotto MUST fight those dudes...compare our bodies of work...I'm HOF bound with or without those dudes on my resume!!Comment

Time flies! Actually, he fought Mayweather way back in 2012! Including the upcoming Geale fight, he will have fought only 4 times since that Mayweather loss, basically once per year. A loss to Trout, a win against the 11 time Friday Night Fights opponent, Rodriguez and beating a cripple. And his fans claim that he is owed respect based on his resume? MY ASS. Cotto is owed nothing at all from boxing fans other than their derision due to his piss poor record since the Mayweather fight.Comment

Yeah the first time he fought Martimez and won his 4th weight world title granted, kudos, but still Canelo called it on with Cotto and he went a different route and that's fair enough..
But then! A second time Canelo came calling!
A Mexican came to try and make the fight with a PR for a second time, Canelo called him out, told him a PR doesn't duck a Mexican, Mexicans called out the Cotto fans.
And Cotto was silence, Canelo waited for agessss! Canelo called Cotto out publicly again telling Cotto a PR cannot duck a Mexican, twice!
End result, Cotto signs to fight Geale lmfao!!
Canelo needs to see whats up.
Canelo could be as big as Cotto one day.Comment
