If he cherry-picks old, come-forward, one-leg-out-the-door, Froch..... then he most fkn definitely will need to validate himself by fighting Ward LOL.

      Are you serious ?

If you think that Cotto has to "validate" himself against Golovkin, then after Froch, you bet your live that Hypekin will have to fight Ward next.

The blatant bias toward Golovkin - who has done NOTHING - is sickening !
Somebody didn't read my post properly before they responded. I said Ward needs Golovkin more than Golovkin needs him. You get a zero for the day. Damn near nobody wants to fight GGG because he's a beast. If you want to try to twist that around to make it seem like He's ducking, put together a list of the many big names who are calling him out. I dare you.

Golovkin is the number one MW contender. Cotto is the WBC MW champion. Why the hell wouldn't they fight?? Last time I checked, this was a competitive sport.

I agree with all three points.

Its about contextual accuracy, and understanding of the sport.
Thanks, I don't see how people don't see this

[QUOTE=SUBZER0ED;15753070]Cotto was reluctant to face Canelo before he destroyed Kirkland. You think he's going to jump at the chance now? I can't wait to see what Cotto fans will say once they realize he won't face either GGG or Canelo. Well, they already have an excuse for him not fighting GGG. "He hasn't fought anybody doe!" Cotto graduated from the Mayweather school of excuses with flying colors![/QUOT

Cottos might have graduated from the Mayweather school of maximizing your earning potential. Kirkland is essentially a nobody and was fed to Canelo to make him look good like Algieri was fed to Pac.

It's not excuses it's maximizing $ on the tail end of your career. Cotto didn't want the Canelo fight earlier this year because a) Canelo was being a spoiled brat and insisting on fighting May 2nd b) Cotto was negotiating a contract with Roc

Because Cotto signed a 3 fight contract I think the first fight would and will be a winnable fight against a lower end name ( Geale )

2nd fight is the $ fight against Canelo ( think this fight is pretty much already a done deal )

3rd fight: if he loses to Canelo it's a retirement fight if he wins endless possibilities.

          Just my take,

            How was Cotto "reluctant"?

You don't have to worry about that, because Cotto is never fighting GGG. NEVER! Watch.

It'd be a huge ****ing win for Cotto, that's what, but it won't be if/because Cotto and fans keep downplaying GGG's greatness as if he's not worthy of a fight

Oh wait, to follow the cotto blueprint would not be to fight Froch,Ward, Dirrell, etc at all, but instead to fight someone like Stiglitz or Sturm at 162
Actually if you talk about "cotto blueprint", GGG would have to go up 3 more weight classes 1st. Terrible comparison.

Come on Javi. Cotto stalled until the deadline in negotiations with Canelo, only to say "no". He also put on his diva face to make things difficult. He didn't want Canelo then, and I bet he sure as hell doesn't want him now, after seeing him decimate Kirkland. Do you think Cotto could have done that to Kirkland?

That's hard to accomplish. There's probably less than 10 fighters in history who started at 154 or 160 who even got two-three titles in three divisions.

Golovkin is already 32 which makes it tougher. James Toney was the last guy to ever start at 154 or 160 in his career and get three titles.

Nobody sees Golovkin beating Toney prime for prime either.
