  • Comments Thread For: Mancini Warns Golovkin: Froch is a Bad Fight For Him

The hype is heavy for a potential fight between British super middleweight contender Carl Froch and WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin.

Golovkin wants the fight and he's willing to head up to 168-pounds to make it, and he's ready to travel to the UK where Froch will have the home advantage.

Hall of Famer and former champion Ray 'Boom Boom' Mancini believes the fight, stylistically, is a very bad match that could backfire on Golovkin. Froch is big, he's strong, has a good chin, and knows how to dig deep to win.

Am I the only one that can see Gennady clearly out-boxing Carl whilst putting a little bit of hurt on him late? No stoppage and no knockdowns but in the championship rounds really teeing off on Carl.

Golovkin winning UD via clear but competitive fight.
Initially after Monroe fight I thought Carl would **** Golovkin out but after viewing that fight again Monroe didn't land in the first two and was effectively getting knocked out. Golovkin certainly either gassed slightly or eased off and got some more rounds!

        Yes I think you are.

If it does go to the later rounds, I'd bet more money on the worldclass warrior who's rallied late in every single one of his fights and is probably the fittest man in boxing.

Sometimes you have to take the risky fights to get your name out there.

Ideally, GGG would campaign at middleweight and rule there and become the best middleweight of all time.

But fighting great fighters, there is the risk of losing of course, but GGG certainly wont be accused of being overhyped if he could beat the bigger Froch.
Big guys like Froch not only can take bigger punches, they can also hit harder, so GGG would have to overcome those obstacles.

But hes not young anymore himself so he is going to have to challenge himself I guess soon.

Even taking into account GGG is stepping up, and its a bit of an unknown quantity how he will fair stepping up, I would still favour GGG to be a slight favourite. Its almost a pick em fight that's how much I respect Froch.
