This is neither a compelling fight nor one we should be seeing next.
    Which part isn't true?

Mohammedi is mandatory, yes? So how shouldn't we be seeing it next? I don't think even the most ardent Kovalev fan wanted Kovalev to face Caparello or now Mohammedi but these are the realities when options are limited and where mandatories have to be made. Unfortunately not every fight can be a compelling match-up but it wasn't like Hopkins and Pascal weren't and Kovalev makes poor match-ups about as compelling as they can be.

Dunn is a closeted kovalev lover. He even enjoys his racist banter.

After 18 months of talking about Stevenson, the request for the mando spot, the purse bid, being granted it, and the fact the HBO deal had expired, there was space, if not ample opportunity, for Kov to make the Stevenson fight next.

Didn't say Hopkins or Pascal wasn't.

Only discussing the next fight and the direction going forward. The article is about his new HBO deal-the fights with Pascal and Bhop are not part of that deal.

Yes there was, and simply looking at it from a boxing fans perspective that is hugely disappointing that we probably won't get to see that fight. However for Kovalev the choice was not as simple as either fight Stevenson or not, it was fight Stevenson and get well paid for it but also alienated HBO in the process. If he wants to fight in the US he has to either be with the HBO side or Haymon, he was hardly going to go with Haymon.

You think HBO will take the Andre Ward route with Kovalev by giving him bums only?

                Kovalev

I mean he has to fight his mandatory or else he would get stripped. Kovalev would make Adonis look silly, Fonfara was giving it to Adonis at the end. Adonis has poor stamina issues. kovalev would demolish anyone in the LH div period!

Dude you seriously need to sit back and chill for a while. How in the blue hell Ward's route is "fighting bums"? He has one of the best resumes from today fighters.

The best fights for Kov are men associated with Haymon. Kov's initial HBO deal had expired. He very easily could've made a different decision that would have put those fights into play.

He doesn't have to go with Haymon at all to get those fights.

When you make the noise he did for so long, it does become very simple-make the move that gets you the fight and the titles you claim to want.

Post Donaire, HBO seems to have a different strategy for their names. Manny, GGG, and now Canelo (the other names that they have signed to exclusive deals) are likely to be given named opponents who will look good and lose. They will not have a chance to actually win.

By signing this new deal with HBO, that looks like the same thing will happen with Kov.

I think HBO didn't do that with Ward-they didn't approve his choices for opponents for his comeback fight. They seemed to expect him to fight a better caliber opponent, which is fine.
