Comments Thread For: HBO's Nelson on The New Pact With Sergey Kovalev

Unfortunately I personally think that besides each other there is probably only one other man in the world right now that might be able to be highly competitive, and maybe even defeat, Golovkin and Kovalev and that is Ward but he is in another division and has been inactive so Ward isn't a factor for either for probably another 12-18 months. Both Golovkin's and Kovalev's dominance has been entertaining to me.Yes I am a Floyd fan. I like all styles of fights, but the reason I want Floyd to continue to face top comp is so hopefully one of them can bring out his best. That's all I am asking for here.
I am not asking that every fight be like that-I am responding to the term "excitement" because seeing a no hoper get KTFO as you expected lacks drama, intrigue, suspense and any other elements of "excitement".
I base it on Kov's actions-no he doesn't. I don't think he did before, but based on the most recent actions-yes I think he does.
I think Haymon's fighters are in competitive fights for the most part now that PBC is up. We know why he avoided these kinds of fights last year-the lawsuit. Prior to 2014, he made good fights for the most part.
I didn't say it wouldn't affect it-I said Kov talked a lot about Stevenson and fighting him so when he makes a decision that makes that fight more difficult to make-those actions raise questions for all fans except those that either hate Haymon or love Kov. If Kov did the same thing to a non Haymon fighter my guess is the reaction would be much stronger, as it was when Stevenson did it to Kov.
Well I don't think for one second Kovalev is scared of losing to Stevenson, I think my explanation of the situation is far more plausible. You might consider it self-serving because I like Kovalev and dislike Stevenson and Haymon but I like Kovalev and dislike them for particular reasons and those reasons are related to this whole situation.
PBC has been decent so far, neither terrible nor has it set the world alight. Haymon's matchmaking has always been pretty dire, extremely cautious with his "star" fighters, only with his foreign guys does he seem to give harder fights. That may be because he prioritises the more US friendly 'stars' or maybe it is based upon the advice of the fighters trainers/team, it is not clear which is the case.
This is my last reply as I have to go and besides we will end up going around in circles.Comment

What's the point in posting an offensive comment, and remove it right after someone identified it as racist. By removing the tweet, it prove the fact that Kovalev knew the post was indeed, racist.
Look, Kovalev is not too quick, and due to his past racist blunders, he has a hard time hiding his true manner of speech.

Everytime you ask him a question about Stevenson, Kovalev plays dumb like he suddenly doesn't understand, and ask the russian traduction to his sugar daddy, Egis Klimas. The problem is, his manager doesn't translate, he only whispers Kovalev what he has to repeat.

Duva went asking the WBC to force the matchup, thinking Stevenson-Haymon-Michel wouldn't have the choice but to vacate the WBC title. She thought that Stevenson would have replicated the Quillin move. Wow, this lawyer is really unskillful to think that simple.
And to her great surprise, she realize that Stevenson wanted that fight all along. Asking herself, how the F Adonis team are so confident, I have a bad feeling about this one, it's time to throw our bluff card on the map, like I did with the phony lawsuit I was about to lose.
If the purse worth the fight, it could be on HBO, Showtime or PBC, it doesn't matter because the shares would still be at 50% each opponents. So, I don't know who Kovalev's clowning other than himself with his 50% split on HBO, which clearly prove how he endorse the withdrawal decision taken by Kathy Duva.
Kovalev wants no part of Stevenson, they only wish Stevenson loses his title down the road, and they'll run to pick that WBC Belt by saying anyway stevenson wasn't a real champion and other ish.
Who did Kovalev fought? Over-defensive Agnew Nah! no punching power Caparello Nah! glucosamine-man B-hop Nah!, deflatable showoff full of compressed air Pascal Nah!, WHO?
So, what the F Kovalev is talking about, his own next opponent Mohammedi, got Ko'd by Dmitry Sukhotsky in 2 rounds, by visiting the canvas twice. The truth is in your face, they don't want to face Stevenson, it's all talk for the fans (hidden quacks). We deserve to be respected, not to be fooled by talented bluffers like team Duva.
