Ggg actually purposely abandons his defence so his opponent commits more to offence so he can land his own punches

mayweather's offence has suffered because of his age. against pacquiao i saw an old man who couldn't pull the trigger, despite having completely undressed his opponent with his defence. back when he was more sprightly and his opponents were more frequently the same size as him, he had a dazzling offence

        But Golovkin's defense, obviously.
Golovkin literally has the best Jab along with Wlad at the moment in boxing, he lands on average 12 per round, double the middleweight average... and these are power jabs.

What's that based off, compubox again?

That doesn't surprise me because the Middleweight divison is one of the worst In boxing.

But if Cotto counts as a Middleweight then his jab is defintely better than Golovkins.

Golovkin literally has the best Jab along with Wlad at the moment in boxing, he lands on average 12 per round, double the middleweight average (6) and the most of any current fighter... and these are often power jabs, not range finders.

Considering Wlad uses his jab 10x more but lands less of them than Golovkin per round (11), I'd say Golovkin is far more accurate and powerful with it (since he isn't a heavyweight), but it's not as important as Wlads to his game plan.

This is a weird question. Maybe flawed is the wrong word.

GGG is a stalker that's willing to take 2 to land one. At range, he's actually pretty good defensively and is a good counter puncher. His flaw is not so much defense but him being uncomfortable fighting on the inside. Monroe had most og lf his success on the inside and GGG was taking a lot of punches. His answer was to push him back to reestablish a range where he is comfortable at.

Floyd, being 38 with hand problems and declining reflexes, has adapted to an "old man style". He preserves eneergy, doesnt put punches together as much, throws quick single shots and rests on the ropes.

Even at this age and throughout his career, he discourages opponents with right hand counters over their jabs, using their aggression against them and walking them into check hooks, wearing them down with body shots and he has a quick, crisp, untelegraphed right hand lead. He transitions from defense to offense better than any fighter in the sport and places his shots very well. He is also one of the most complete fighters in boxing because he can pick you apart on the outside, and is probably the best inside fighter in boxing. He can throw punches from all ranges.

So its not really " flawed offense" or "flawed defense". It's about being a complete fighter and I can say that Floyd is a way more complete fighter than GGG.

But obviously, you're comparing an experienced ATG with a riding MW titlist who is still trying to build his legacy and improve. So it is probably more logical to compare GGG with his peers to make it more fair.

You haters have serious tunnel vision when it comes to Floyd. It's like when people talk about Sugar Ray Leonard finishing opponents... Leonard wasn't a world class fighter by 35 or beyond his third weight division, let alone knocking out world class competition in his fourth division at 38 year old.
                exactly.......

Just the simple notion that Floyd might have flaws has ruffled some feathers lol

There are many different variations to the jab, Golovkin has a stiff jab, similar to Cotto and Ward's. Out of the three I'd say Ward's was better because when he utilizes his it's insanely difficult to counter. As for the best jab, that is laughable.

And regardless my question was do you think Whitaker isn't good offensively? By some of the logic you're using he wasn't.

Floyd does fight in the pocket. He's not going to fight in the pocket or "destroy" Pacquaio on the inside because Pacquaio doesn't stay or fight on the inside.

He doesn't follow up but at this stage in his career he's lacking killer instinct that he used to have. But that doesn't mean your isn't good.
yep not only Floyd has hand problems, he also is 38.

of course he isn't fighting like he's pretty boy floyd. when Floyd was in his 20's we saw him throw combinations.
