After getting ditched by HBO and Arum, you did not see Schaefer, Haymon, or Showtime swoop in.
I respect your points but using an American HWT champ ( who also just happened to be the biggest sports star on the planet) in comparison to a Cuban FW is really too much of an extreme comparison.

No fighter fights by himself. If HBO gives Rigo quality opponents and doesn't let other guys at or around his weight on their network without fighting him, he'd be in the type of fights that consistently get ratings.

That's the exact problem with the HWT division, the fighters have so little talent that even a slugfest between 2 guys is no longer really enjoyable.

Do we want every division to look like the HWT division?
The heavyweight division is in disarray. The fans know it. Fans want action and the heavyweight division currently does not provide a lot of it. There are some decent ones that take place, and even though it is in a state of lull, the fans would jump back in a heartbeat if the action returned.

            facts and clarity

a man cannot reason with somebody who thinks floyd mayweather shouldn't be called a negative fighter in comparison to great welterweights hearns, leonard, and robinson.

You said, "you can box without being negative."

And I said Mayweather wasn't negative in his prime either. At 38, yes. If you don't agree, back it up. But please stop deflecting.

so a fighter who holds, backs away consistently, pot shots, and boxes primarily isn't negative now?

you understand that this is what a great boxer can look like, correct? and that mayweather is negative in comparison by any unbiased standards?

robinson isn't well filmed at WW, but what we've seen from him has been more aggressive and open than either hearns or leonard. mayweather looks like he's sparring by comparison.

not only can these three box, they have a second dimension in which they become aggressive and turn your lights out.

you and your little crew are the only people who don't think floyd mayweather is negative. you're just going to have to accept that you're biased. do you not agree that you're biased toward floyd? i have no biases against floyd mayweather. i paid a lot of money to travel to vegas and watch him fight canelo.

Let's get back to the topic. What was "negative" about Mayweather's style from 130-140?
