I thought one of the best points was that other sports update their rules to draw viewers and increase the level of entertainment whereas boxing has failed to evolve and fallen behind as a consequence.

I don't disagree, but lets be honest, again if Pacquiao won the boring fight people would have been very happy! Of course the fight did not live up to expectation because as far as pure boxing Skills and Overall Talent Is concerned, Pacquiao was NEVER on Mayweather level. Yeah I know it sucks to admit for most but to me that is exactly what the match looked like and that is how it played out.

Yes Leonard vs Hearns delivered because if was a EVEN MATCH UP as far as Skills and Talent. Yes Hagler vs Hearns lived up to the hype because again even match up in styles and skills. When it is truly a even match up on Paper, YES the match up will delivery. That is NOT what we're getting in boxing Brainless Casuals are being Misled by HBO and Idiots on ESPN. The problem is that they stopped judging fights properly due to Floyd's hype and popularity. Referees stopped enforcing the rules due to the money Floyd brought to the sport, not because his way of 'fighting' improved boxing in any way. The way I look at it, is if you don't want to exchange punches, if you don't want to get hit, if you don't want to FIGHT, if all you want to do is duck and run and hide, then you are in the wrong sport. Boxing is not for you. Try judo where there are no strikes at all, only throws. Or maybe needlepoint.

Out-boxing is one thing, one aspect of boxing, not the defining style. Problem with it today, is that many out boxers abuse the lack of enforcement of certain rules like holding, ducking below the belt, hitting with the inside of hand (to pull people in) that turn people off. Just like in-fighters that headbutt/lowblow, these are fouls that need to be addressed. Unfortunately, there is no enforcement and even where there is, its highly inconsistent ref to ref.

When you are 38, in your 4th weight class with hand problems you adapt your style like great fighters do.

Adapt your fighting all you want as long as the same rules apply. Unfortunately for boxing, they changed the rules to suit Mayweather instead of penalizing him for his infractions.

He hasn't lost as it is, it is not like his fights are called vastly different from the sport as a whole.

You are the one that wants things different, I like fighters deciding it not refs. If a guy is good enough he will get the job done, if not they will most likely lose.
