DLH was a figurehead who spent his time sniffing lines and asking hookers to bend him over like a slinky. While he was sleeping, others were working. To top it off, he's still rich as hell anyway. Count me out of the pity party.
If any football team had a rogue employee in another team deliberately ensuring their players wouldn't renew their contracts or ensuring they didn't sign contracts in order to sign them up everyone would call it for what it is.
What Oscar did in his spare time neither here nor there, Schaefer was hired to run the company and all he did was try to take it from Oscar through the back door with Haymon until they got caught like the **** they are when their underhand plan was uncovered.
People expect Oscar to deal with this guy now? they wouldn't deal with someone who did that to them, so they shouldn't expect Oscar to deal with him.Last edited by Weebler I; 04-28-2015, 10:32 AM.

At this stage, Haymon has financial backup for 2015 and 2016... Therefore 8-10 years is a distant target under the present business environment...
One can't expect that Haymon's competition and the "sanctioning bodies" to sit back and quietly wait to be whipped out from the scene...
If things go well there will be a critical mass of influence point the PBC will reach that will drain the influence of the sanctioning bodies by the day til they are like the NABO belt or whatever silly belt today. They will fight back no question about that, but they will have to all join together otherwise eventually I think the allure of 1 champion vs 4 champions will eventually win one way or another.
The promoters don't got that much of a fight imo. Fighters just need to learn that they don't need to be tied down to a specific promoter. Its never made much sense to me for anyone to be tied down to a promoter, but specifically once you become a name brand guy. Having a promoter as you are coming up isn't an awful move cuz it'll give you regular fights, but if you're Manny level or even a top twenty caliber guy you should be fighting for the highest bidder for your services, the best offer.

Originally posted by IMDAZED View PostNo genius, Schafer built the company from Boxeo de Oro to the biggest promotional outfit in the world. And it took years and years of incredible hard work. If the fighters decide to hire an advisor who advises them not to sign with GBP or not to re-sign with them...yet Schafer still gets them to fight on his cards, you think that's a bad thing? Grow up. This is business. He, Haymon, and the fighters have every right to do with whatever they want with their professional lives. No one is beholden to making Oscar money and no one stole anything except for maybe his grinder.
But no, Schaefer was working for his own personal interests and the best interests of someone outside the company, breaching his fiduciary duties in the process. Once he was caught he was rightly turfed out and ultimately barred from promoting anyone for an extended period of time.
By all accounts the company never even made a profit under Schaefer, at least they have a chance of that now.

It seems like Haymon is doing far more for boxing & boxers than anyone else. Haymon is giving fighters their value. If he's giving them more than their value he'll go out of business sooner or later. No big deal. Plus he's putting them in front of a wider audience.
All the drama is just Haymon hating not fanboyism by guys not anti-Haymon. You're hating, I'm neutral. I wanna see where this goes that may end up being better than where the sport is at. If its not better than its back to the status quo. I am intrigued by what good for the sport could come of this, not gonna lie about that, but that all turns around on a dime if Haymon turns out to be a Arum or King who's just not shown his true colors yet.

lol ridiculous, if Golden Boy fighters are refusing to sign new contracts one by one, don't you think it would be a good idea to ask them why? and upon finding out addressing and eliminating the problem?
