Uh, no. 5 years of stalled negotiations, excuses and Floyd's PPV numbers on a steady downward trend. Roach goes out on his own and talks to Moonves and BAM......Floyd just so happens to show up at a basketball game to try and claim credit for making the fight happen.

Moonves doesn't give a crap who gets credit for it but he gives a crap about paying out 32 million for junkyard PPV's and massive financial losses.

It was either you fight Pac or you're done; capeesh?

There was no reason for moonves to be there except to get floyd to agree. And since his presence was obviously required, It seems he was needed on the CBS side to get it done.. His old feelings for arum weren't the cause for his presence being needed..
      Why was his presence needed???
I'm sure Espinoza could have handled it with hbo execs.. At the very most the CEOs of hbo and showtime...
Espinoza has a pretty bad history with Arum so I don't know. He was Oscar's lawyer when Oscar got out of his Top Rank contract.

But I love how the quote doesn't prove anything. I want a quote from Moonves saying he forced Mayweather. I know you're pulling it out of your ass but let's see how you excuse this one away. Humor me.

Arum is taking Oscar's portion of “Fight of the Century” Purse.

          Fixed for you.

Edit -- I just realized you changed your pic so I didn't recognize it was you. You've gone full troll. I guess for kicks? Enjoy.

Les moonves is so much higher up the food chain...

              Showtime and hbo boxing executives
              Then showtime/hbo sports division executives
              Then showtime/hbo Vice Presidents
Then showtime/hbo CEOs... This is the highest it should go

But it went past that to the levels of
CBS Vice President of showtime division
              CBS executive management
Literally the top guy CEO les moonves

Notice how no one from hbo' parent company of time warner had to included.. If it was manny and arum being the problem it would have been their boss coming down, not the other way around..

The top dog isn't going to get involved unless there is a problem and a reason to be there...
God some " fans " are clueless.

The CEO of HBO was not required at the negotiating table, because he would have been no assistance whatsoever in removing the roadbloack that was Bob Arum.

It took a player like Moonves to ride over Arums bull****.

The again, I guess you have already decided to forget about the roadblocks that Arum tried during this very negotiation?

According to Roach, Moonves expressed hesitation about Pacquiao’s promoter, Bob Arum, who put one Pacquiao fight on Showtime during a leadership change at HBO, but then turned his back on Showtime with Moonves believing two more fights were coming.

“You’re going to have to deal with Bob,” Roach told Moonves. “Manny just signed a new contract with him.”
Exactly, he was required to handle Arum !

                    • The only guy that Arum could not look down on, talk down to, or manipulate.......... was Les Moonves. Hoya/Haymon/Ellerbe were not going to be able to deal with Arum effectively. They had tried that already.

The CEO of my company will involve himself, if a particularly lucrative/important issue needs priority.

I'm not surprised at all to hear of Moonves' involvement, even back in 2009 they required Judge Daniel Weinstein as official mediator..... and since then Arum has alienated himself even more with his lies and manipulations.
