yeah i kind of agree. i've had plenty of contact with the "walking in a hatton wonderland" lot and they're mostly a bunch of coked-up wankers vicariously living out their hard man fantasies through boxing. would much rather attend a fight with a quieter crowd of people who knew what they were watching
Andre Ward: UK fans better because they have less options.

North Americans consider poker to be a sport and show poker games on sports channels. I'll take darts over poker any day.Shots fired lol. But he has a point. I mean I think maybe Brits are just more drunk in general. They go ***in nuts for guys like scot quigg. If e was American he'd have as many fans as Tim Bradley, prob not even that many. Have u ever seen darts on tv? They go nuts over that too for some reason lol. Americans are more subdued about sportsComment

Some fans create atmosphere, others expect an atmosphere to be created for them.
That's the difference between UK and US fans. UK fans see themselves as part of the occasion. US fans see themselves as passive consumers because that's what they're raised to be.
With some exceptions, obviously.Comment

The thing is, when people diss on the size of certain fighters fanbases, they have to realise that a lot of times, garnering such a fanbase is based on something as simple as geography.
British boxers have big fanbases, because we have tradition of fan culture, and a lot of these fans migrate over from football (soccer) where fans are extremely loyal and will travel great distances to support their team.
If Ward and Bradley were British, they would have huge fanbases. Ward would be hailed a genius, he'd honestly be regarded as one of the best British boxers ever. When British fans have a great boxer at the elite level, we cherish him. Americans take them for granted.
In terms of boxing fans getting behind their fighter, Americans are probably the worst. Look at the British, Mexican, Puerto Rican, Canadian (based) fighters...these dudes are born with solid fanbases.
Mayweather is the only American fighter with a big fan following, and that was garnered from mostly appealing to one sub-set of society.Comment

Yea he just seems to be bitter because he's elite skills haven't translated to big business. But he's too proud of a man to take the blame on himself and wants to dish it out to Dan Goosen and US fans.
He needs to put on a show. He should on stepped on the gas and put away Edwin Rodriguez for example who didn't have a prayer.Comment

I wish the US got behind their fighters the way the UK does. The UK can make club level guys into bonafide PPV stars.Comment
