Cotto is NEVER going to fight Golovkin. FORGET ABOUT IT!!!!! Cotto would likely lose to Alvarez and then Canelo probably would face Golovkin.

Even if he didn't go aboard and demanded the fight, Cotto wouldn't fight him anyways and vacate the belt. That's the only thing forcing him to fight him.

They need a guarantee and step aside money. Better be clear with what they ask because that's how Rubio got screwed out

Either way, it will depend on the person holding the belt.

Just say NO. I wouldn't trust any deal at all...if Canelo wins they'll find a way of giving him a voluntary or outright find a way to get sulaiman to void that agreement. Get your fight man...get your belts and say fk em all. He was next in line two years ago, waited for martinez, martinez fought and lost to cotto, cotto sat on that a year has a fight coming up, you imagine another 6 months for a canelo bout and then canelo sitting on the belts for another six months if only to find a way to do a volunteer defense. Guy is no spring chicken...get it now.

Except that he's never come close to weighing 180. I don't know where you got that number.

There is no guarantee Golovkin gets the fight if he refuses. All Cotto has to do is vacate and he can still fight Canelo because that's still a money fight

Exactly,GGG has earned the position that he's in,and the wbc belt is so close he can almost taste it. You just can't put a price on those things, and I hope that golovkin finds reputation and honor to be more important than some step aside paycheck.

If only this situation was that cut and dry. HBO has been pushing hard behind the scenes for a cotto-canelo fight, do you really think they are going to let GGG(under HBO contract) pull that move?
