Comments Thread For: Golovkin’s Promoter: Cotto Seeking Step-Aside Deal

Cotto don't want none, but I don't blame him, he isn't a middleweight. but here's the thing, his fans have to accept the hate coming his way because he is literally holding the belt hostage. Every fighter in the world has the right to try and obtain the lineal title in their division, and GGG is doing everything in his power to do that.
Remember, GGG and HBO wanted the Martinez fight, but Lou Dibella was on record saying Martinez isn't taking that fight, too much risk. So basically he ducked GGG, Cotto fans and Martinez fans cannot argue that fact. It came directly from his promoter's mouth
So now GGG is going after the guy who beat Martinez, and Cotto fans wanna say "He needs to wait his turn/Cotto isn't a Middleweight", those reasons hold no weight because in the sport of boxing, if you want CREDIT, you have to defend your belt against credible opponents, is this not the truth? Every boxing website/journalist has GGG as the main dude at 160. For Cotto to get CREDIT, he needs to defend the belt against GGG. Not Canelo, not Daniel Geale, those wins are "decent" wins, but those two guys don't deserve the opportunity at the belt
Cotto fans need to be real. You can say he isn't a middleweight or whatever you want, but that argument doesn't hold any weight when we're talking about whether or not Cotto deserves CREDIT for his reign at 160. Right now, he doesn't deserve any credit whatsoever.Comment

HBO would be smart to make that fight because it could be a trilogy.
I believe Golovkin draws 10k out West, 7k in the East.Comment

Oh yeah that's why the whole Stubhub was roaring GGG all night, even mexicans rooting for GGG against the mexican. Fair and square, the number at the fight against Monroe at Forum will be a good barometer.
There were 8k at the garden main arena. the garden smaller venue's max capacity is 5k.Comment

The thing with going up in weight and fighting Ward is that basically there is no coming back down. Not without a serious detriment to the body. As of today GGG still can make 154 and be more or less effective there (even though his best weight is 160). All those ****** catchweights below 160 are also very possible for him, especially given that this would be for a very hefty payday. But once he goes up, this ship is sailed... Unless he'll fight at SMW but will not bulk up. He'll be a considerably smaller man, but maybe his other assets will save the day for him. Not a fair fight, but possible.but when it comes to ward you only cared about him not being a draw...
if cotto does it is wrong, but is also wrong if ggg does it, so to bring the draw excuse to the table is not something ggg fans should be doing...
and dont bring the mandatory çrap also, cuz you still bitçh about canelo when he has no obligation of fighting ggg either...
cant have it both ways...
But now Ward returns to action and he is no longer at 168. He is going to fight at 172. What is the point of going up if there is no Ward there?
IMO, GGG will be better served to clean up 160 and sit on top of it as an undisputed champion, with possibly some trips to JMW...Comment

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA thats a good one! Got any more jokes? But Ward is the biggest draw in the sport! That's why his next fight is on BET. No other network is large enough to handle his immense fan base.
If I was GGG I would demand a 7 figure step aside fee along with a contract signed by both fighters and both promoters that guarantees that the winner will fight GGG in their next fight within 6 months, at the middleweight limit with no catchweight. They will also be prohibited from fighting any other opponent at any other weight class before fighting GGG. The fight will go on even if the title holder decides to vacate the title. The only alternative to not fighting GGG will be retirement from the sport.
Get that all in writing and certified and then and only then should GGG step aside for Cotto to fight Canelo.Comment
