If you look at their ring weights there's less difference between them than Ward's and Kovalev's ring weight so...
Golovkin was 173 pound in the ring against Rubio so he isn't that far from 168 or 172, especially from 168.

People always use the Rubio fight to make claims regarding GGG's ring weight. His usual ring weight is around 165-167. The only reason he went up to 173 against Rubio was because Rubio did not make weight and came in at over 180. So to even things out a bit, GGG went up as much as he could to even things out. That was the only fight where he was over 170 as far as I am aware.

People really need to move on to other things instead of the same old chestnut over and over again. It's as bad as the YouTube video that people try to use to claim GGG said he was not ready for Ward, when it was actually one line out of a longer interview taken well out of context.
