I don't even care that he'd fighting Ward. This is just about him being back in the ring. After this he can get some quality fights at 168 or decide to move up.

Wow... Paul Smith? Really? He's not even a top domestic fighter at his weight class?

This guy truly is a joke. A clown.

Grow some balls and call out guys at 175. Hahah can you imagine Ward ever fighting Beterbiev? I can't either... Can't even see him fighting Fonfara.
How is he not a top domestic fighter when he's long time british champion?

For not being able to draw flies to shyte, he's in a remarkable position.

His people got him in S6 tournamet, and then got him contract with HBO, getting him 2 million for The Rodriguez's of the world.
For starters Ward shouldve started off at MW which has always been a more glamorous division. Secondly, his manager shouldve looked to a bigger promotor for him to sign with, Ward is an Olympic Gold Medalist for crying out loud. Arum wouldve turned him to gold without the super 6 tournement. Thirdly, the lawsuits he took up to get out of his promotional contract were frivalous and shouldve been given better advice before taking them.

And then you want to talk about Ward getting 2million for fighting Rodriguez. Your boy Chavez got 4.2 for a fight he was supposed to win.

He couldn't have made 160. He fought as a LHW as an amateur.

Damned if you do damned if you dont i guess . People ***** about fighting scrubs and then laugh about getting beat by a top 10 in the division. How exactly was fonfara a cherry pick? Kid is big strong and in his prime no body to be taken lightly. Chavez couldve easy taken a fight with Glen frikin johnson and got a feel for light heavy. But no dude went balls deep and it didnt work. But thats how you get recognition and respect. Unlike ward who is full of excuses to not gight a top contender in years and wont step out of his comfort zone for anything

Ward-Smith is indeed garbage, but if Roc Nation wants to throw their money down the toilet then thats their call.

At least it isnt wasting HBO budget money that could be used on a fight that actually matters.........

He's a 168lb fighter. He didn't even really "clean out" 168 and the landscape has changed since then. There are some fights I'd like to see him in at 168 before he moves up in weight.
Other than Dirrell who went blind after he got hit by Abraham, what other fights are there at 168lbs for him? Froch? Already saw that. Chudinov? please. Lil Dirrell? wack. Steiglitz? weak fight. Groves? No need.

I want to see him fight the winner of DeGale-Dirrell. Froch rematch is unlikely but would like to see it. And obviously Golovkin.

Chavez gets beaten up and knocked out and people think Ward should mirror his career choices?

                      hmm. Seems logical
