And look how that turned out for him. Ward is using his brain and making a logical choice.

Who do you realistically want Ward to fight?

It's hard to call it a cherry pick when Sr. was so adamant about taking an easier fight and feeling Fofara was too much of a risk for his son. Haymon doesn't struggle setting up his fighters with "half decent" opponents.

Wow... Paul Smith? Really? He's not even a top domestic fighter at his weight class?

This guy truly is a joke. A clown.

Grow some balls and call out guys at 175. Hahah can you imagine Ward ever fighting Beterbiev? I can't either... Can't even see him fighting Fonfara.
I bet Andre Ward wouldve fought Chavez Jr. his 1st fight back. Easy work. I find it funny how people want to discredit Andre Ward for taking a tune up or 2, he has had some bad career guidance (unlike Chavez Jr.) for most of his career, give the man a chance to get on track. In due time Ward will clean out 175...

How the hell has Ward had bad career guidance?

For not being able to draw flies to shyte, he's in a remarkable position.

His people got him in S6 tournamet, and then got him contract with HBO, getting him 2 million for The Rodriguez's of the world.

For the layoff, I'd like to see him fight Froch in his home country (like Froch fought Ward in), or give Kessler a rematch in Denmark. Those would be acceptable fights for his return.

After that, I'd like to see him go to 175 and start out with Fonfara, or someone like that.

I'm all about the best fighting the best - so after that - Ward should be calling out the Kovalev's, Stevenson's, etc.

I said realistic. Neither of those fights were ever realistic.

nobody, he's just a trolling, pos spewing video game nonsense. chavez saw fonafara against stevenson and thought it would be easy pickings for him and it backfired. even though ward has been in the gym he isn't ******. smith is a good tuneup for the layoff.

lmao at this doof saying kessler in denmark

I don't like Ward. I agree he should fight a much better 168 pound challenger. I don't agree he should have to go to 175 and fight bigger men than himself. If his best weight is 168 he should stay there and be a good champion and fight the best challengers at least 3 times a year. A division is never completely cleaned out. Good new guys are always fighting their way to the top. He could fight Anthony Dirrell in the future.

Smith is **** average but realistically, it was never going to be anyone good so what's the point in complaining? This is a throwaway fight just to get Ward back in the ring.

I have no doubts he'll fight good fighters. It's just certain people who are upset that he hasn't actually retired
