Those figures are pretty damn good. An Argentine and Russian in Verona outdid a Mexican in Los Angeles, that **** cray
It just goes to show that people want to watch good fights, above anything and everything. Chavez may have been a bigger name than the fighters on HBO, but Fonfara wasn't. Ruslan, Matthysse and Crawford all ring bells, especially since 2 of them have been in FOTY candidates and one of them was considered Fighter of the year by many. Chaves Jr on the other hand has steadily detached from his fanbase since his major layoff.

HBO also is in approximately 9 million more homes than SHowtime.

HBO also had the Mayweather/Pacquiao: At Last coming on after the fights, which probably helped the ratings some.

True, but those are still significant numbers on behalf of HBO. Like I said in a previous post, good night for boxing. It seems like both networks managed to pull in some good numbers although they clashed head to head.

I suppose this is a good indication for boxing as a sport, it seems like people are interested enough to give two rival broadcasters some good ratings. Perhaps Haymon's PBC shows are beginning to reel in more fans and sparking new interests amongst the casuals, atleast enough to give good ratings all around, regardless of promoter, channel or manager.

Yeah but Showtime also had their version of Mayweather/Pacquiao promo on after the fight as well. HBO just had better quality so fans were there on Saturday. And you are correct Showtime has ZERO fights on their calender this year besides the Mayweather fight. They will need to fire Espinoza and clean house and try to rebuild their Boxing brand. Haymon leaving to PBC in 2015 and dragging the Showtime brand through the mud all of 2014 is prime example of how to get yourself fired. They need to bring in someone new who will rebuild relationships with Top Rank, Golden Boy, and the rest of the promoters. And will put their foot down to Haymon. They were bidding against themselves with laughable purses for blatant mismatches all last year just because they didn't want to upset Haymon and lose his fighters. They ruined relationships just to keep Haymon happy. And he still f'ed them over lol Now they have to just ride the Mayweather gravy train for as long as they can but he only fights twice a year. What do you do for the remaining 50 weeks of the year?

Showtime is in trouble, haymon really left espinoza with his pants down and his **** swinging in the wind, he kinda did the same thing to oscar stealing most of his fighters and pretty much decimating the goldenboy roster, i wonder how its all going to play out. but that was a poor showing by chavez, dont get me wrong the kids got guts he took lots of damage but you cant quit on your stool like that, it flushes his whole mexican warrior image down the toilet. not a good showing for showtime and haymon when one of there top guys is getting the **** beat out of him and booed out of the building and mexicans are throwing beercans all over the place

I said same-good numbers and a good night. I think HBO's much larger customer base accounts for much of the difference.

I think as PBC does well, HBO will make fights like this and put on fighters like Gonzalez. It's a win win for me as a boxing fan.

Or being around significantly longer and having 3 of the most significant shows in TV history-Sopranos, the Wire, and Inside the NFL.-not to mention everything else and there long history with the sport.
