No matter how you want to spin it Showtime is in big trouble. It was pure arrogance for them to put this show on and go head to head with HBO's card which was announced way before they had Chavez or an opponent for Chavez. But the problem is Espinoza hitched his wagon to Haymon. Haymon is the one calling the shots and making these fights. Espinoza is simply his lap dog. And it's going to end up costing him his job because Haymon screwed him over with PBC and took all his fighters to Network TV. And the one star they might of had in Chavez they ruined him in one fight.
This fight happened because Haymon wanted it to. And he thought Chavez is the bigger name fighter out of all the fighters on the HBO card so we'll still get ratings. Yes Chavez was the bigger star name but HBO had the better fights and boxing fans know the difference which is why more watched the HBO card. I could care less about either network, if Showtime had the Lucas fight and HBO had Chavez I would of watched Showtime Live. But Showtime is doomed in the long run because one by one Haymon fighters will be fighting on PBC instead of Showtime. HBO is built to last because they never made a deal with the devil (Haymon) lol

I still think that's part of the reason why Haymon has made this huge PBC move.
Haymon basically exhausted the premium cable channels (HBO banned him except for maybe a rare one-off, and SHO could no longer afford to keep paying what they were, because the returns haven't been good enough).
SHO Boxing has no schedule right now other than Pacquiao-Mayweather, and haven't had much of one the entire year (especially since Wilder-Stiverne).
I could see SHO Boxing ending not long after Mayweather's deal is over.Last edited by Mitchell Kane; 04-21-2015, 01:32 PM.

Considering that the most viewed fights last year were:
Quote:
@danrafaelespn: Most watched US TV fights of year: 1-Chavez-Vera 2 1.39M, 2-BHop-Kovalev 1.328M, 3-GGG-Rubio 1.304M, 4-Craw-Gamboa 1.208M (all HBO) #boxing:
Those figures are pretty damn good. An Argentine and Russian in Verona outdid a Mexican in Los Angeles, that **** cray
