Trinidad fought a prime undefeated Oba Carr before his 26th fight
there is nobody on Cotto's resume that's close to that. KO'ed Maurice Blocker, beat Hector Macho Camacho, and gave a very highly touted Yory Boy Campas his first loss.

Vargas fought Ike Quartey and soundly beat him before his 26th fight, beat Yory Boy Campas for the title, got a dec against Winky Wright, and beat Wilfredo Rivera same dude that many say got robbed by Pernell Whitaker.

Tito hasn't been out of the sport for a "long time" and Vargas is still fighting and there are still many more with more impressive 26/27 fight records.

There's a slim chance that he could outbox Cotto...Very slim chance...

Can't blame him...But imo there's no shame in loosing to Floyd, unless he gets a Gatti-like beating...

Cotto has been struggling w/ weight for a long time, and when he doesnt have to drain himself hes gonna feel so strong and good.
i like cotto.but when he steps it up at 147 one of the many things he hasn't proven is if his short 67"reach is going to hamper him. he's not ready for any of the elite welters.but there's money there. and he could get lucky with some.

Let's see when Mayweather was 26yrs old with 26 fights as a pro he fought:
Diego Corrales,Angel Manfredy,Sosa,Chavez,"El Topo" Gerena,Juuko,Genero Hernandez to name a few

and I NEVER heard ANYONE use the "He's just 26" line
