As far as GGG fighting someone as good as Fanfara goes he has fought guys every bit as good as Fanfara in their respective weight classes and ranked just as high. They just didn't look so good after he knocked them out. Both Geale and Murray were ranked in the top 6 best middleweights in the world at the time GGG knocked them out. GGG has tried like hell to get a fight with Cotto, Quillin and before that Martinez. He can't make them fight him if they don't want to.
Am I the only one who was impressed with Chavez Jr.

Chavez shouldn't have been in there with Fonfara but he was because he doesn't have the discipline to make weight.Everyone forget he had a year long layoff and faught a top lhw . That along with the fact he faught as the small guy for the first time in forever i think he did well. As far as quitting he did what he could and was just out gunned and he knew he had no chance why risk it?
I wanna see andre ward move up to lhw and fight KOVALEV. And when he gets destroyed i wanna see and hear people calling him a bum and nobody
Should've taken a tune-up after being out for a year, then tried to fight at 168.Comment

I'm disappointed in Jr.First off he fought Fonfara who is a top 5 lightheavyweight and he fought him at his weight (well, more or less).
The fight starts off and Chavez realizes how badly outmatched he was from long range. He just didn't want to be there. He didn't think Fonfara was all that. In the first two rounds, he just wanted to quit, that was too much for him.
Then he's like, screw it, I am going after this guy and I am going to try to break him on the inside. He took a beating for 9 rounds but he was also landing good shots on Fonfara, but he tried so hard and for so long considering the amount of punishment he took.
In the end of it all, he was badly outmatched and he tried his hardest going into the lion's den and got beaten up, and it was a good thing he quit, as he was going to get beat up a lot worse in the next 3 rounds provided he was still standing.
I was really impressed with his determination and his courage as his technique is absolutely atrocious, his boxing IQ is below average but that guy fought hard. He isn't a Provodnikov or a Margarito but he's tough.
I think everyone hates him for turning down GGG but GGG can maybe learn smth from Chavez and fight somebody as good as Fonfara.
Not because he quit after nine; most people calling names have probably never done anything hard in their life.
I'm disappointed in the way he kept crying to the ref and that he thinks he won. He really needs to grow up. He's got a wife and kid, ffs.
Props to Fonfara. He earned a new fan (1 among many, I'm sure) tonight.Comment

GGGs opposition might have been ranked just as high as Fanfara, but no one on GGGs resume even approaches Fanfaras skill level, not even closeAs far as GGG fighting someone as good as Fanfara goes he has fought guys every bit as good as Fanfara in their respective weight classes and ranked just as high. Jrs real problem is lack of skills. No jab, sloppy footwork, and very poor defence. At lower weight classes he could over come these disadvantages with size, a good chin, good power, and a good body attack.Comment

How do you know that?
Comparisons between different weights is pretty difficult.
Whilst Fonfara isn't a great fighter, he's OK. He lost to another OK fighter in Stevenson after giving him a pretty hard fight.
I wouldn't know where to start in comparing him to someone like Geale, for example. Geale does everything good, just nothing great.Comment
