I don't like Chavez at all, have always rooted against him, rooted against him against Fonfara too.

But he could've played it safe, covering, moving, getting himself disqualified but he tried to win and he tried to win the hard way, so he gets respect for this.

The fight starts off and Chavez realizes how badly outmatched he was from long range. He just didn't want to be there. He didn't think Fonfara was all that. In the first two rounds, he just wanted to quit, that was too much for him.

Then he's like, screw it, I am going after this guy and I am going to try to break him on the inside. He took a beating for 9 rounds but he was also landing good shots on Fonfara, but he tried so hard and for so long considering the amount of punishment he took.

In the end of it all, he was badly outmatched and he tried his hardest going into the lion's den and got beaten up, and it was a good thing he quit, as he was going to get beat up a lot worse in the next 3 rounds provided he was still standing.

I was really impressed with his determination and his courage as his technique is absolutely atrocious, his boxing IQ is below average but that guy fought hard. He isn't a Provodnikov or a Margarito but he's tough.

I think everyone hates him for turning down GGG but GGG can maybe learn smth from Chavez and fight somebody as good as Fonfara.
When Froch or Ward are ready to come down to 165 for a GGG fight, let us know...

I was impressed by the way he came back after the knockdown but then he straight up quit! And that was a disappointment.

I was impressed with how he answered after getting KD. But he quit shortly after and that erases that one moment he had.

He could try fight a Bika type of a fighter at least. I like GGG but his opposition has been terrible and that's the whole truth.

What would a bika type do for him? He's getting in with whoever is willing to fight him. Middleweight division stinks though.

The problem was always lack of discipline, being around too many people that never told him the truth and being delusional about his own abilities. And the way he talked at the post interview shows he still hasn't been humbled, still the same Chavez Jr. Chavez Jr. does have some ability but I never think he will show his true potential due to the reasons I just listed.

And sure, it was quite the impressive beating he took as he did against Martinez as well. It really isn't healthy though, probably a wise decision in the long run for him to quit on the stool. He always had heart but that is not enough if you lack the skills or physical preparation.

Try and land something. Go out on his shield. Look what John Molina did twice. Was getting beat up by Lundy and Bey. He didn't quit in his corner. Even vs Matthysse when he was getting destroyed

Bika would test him dude. Bika tests everyone - Dirrel, Zaghe, Ward, Adonis. Stop making excuses Bika would be by far the best fighter that GGG has faced an I said a Bika type of a fighter
