Kovalev and his promoter disrespected Stevenson. It don't have to be on HBO or Showtime. Have it on NBC. Hopskins is an Uncle Tom

First of all, Duva did not call for a purse bid, Yvon Michel did. Duva pushed to have Kovalev become the mandatory challenger and to have negotiations for the fight.

That's what happens when you become the mandatory challenger, if there is no agreement between the camps they go to a purse bid.

And the promoter that offers up the highest amount of money gets to put on the fight.

Why is Duva running away from the highest amount of money? Her fighter would benefit greatly from that. I guess she's going to hide behind HBO, though.

Why wouldn't kovalev fighting Stevenson be in main events best interest? That is the biggest fight for kovalev at 175 and kovalev would be heavily favored

Stop trying to re-write history. BHop didn't didn't duck Stevenson. If anything, it was the other way round. Hopkins wanted the fight but he had a mandatory deadline to beat. Haymon knew this but he kept stalling BHop till time ran out. BHop waited till the evening before the deadline date and when he still had no word from Haymon he called Duva and they made the fight with Kovalev that same night.

BHop vs Stevenson or Kovalev were both unification fights so by taking either one BHop could avoid the mandatory defence which he didn't want to be compelled to take as it would have been a poor payday.

This was widely reported at the time. Why are you trying to pretend you don't know about it?

This is only an issue because title lineage is so badly over-rated.

As soon as you realise that title lineage means nothing, eveything becomes clear.

Kovalev is now the man at 175.

Stevenson is just a belt holder.

In boxing..... the lineal champ COULD be the best in his division, or he may not be..... as-is the case currently at 175.

How about they do it on free TV on a neutral channel like NBC (Duva used to have fights on there too). The winner gets more exposure and recognized as the undisputed Champion. Stevenson is the lineal champion and that is the only title that matters. I think Fonfara beats Kovalev's last 5 opponents easy.
