But no, obviously guys like Valuev (outboxed by a 80year old Holyfield lol) are the future of the heavyweight division
You've got Wlad the king of the division weighing 245lbs, top contender Fury at 260lbs, AJ weighs 236 and Pulev 247lbs. The top guys are getting bigger and bigger and that's pretty much undeniable. Also Wilder has often weighed around 225lbs (vs Scott, Harrison, Firtha). Not to mention the man he won his strap off weighed 239lbs.

At the moment, the size disparity isn't so big that it can't be overcome by superior skills. The difficulty, however, is that this gap is only going to get bigger as the top heavies get taller and heavier. The issue needs to be addressed now before every top heavy is 225lbs or heavier.

      .
Of those you've mentioned only Wlad has done anything of note. Pulev got sparked out (unlike 225 and below Povetkin, Haye, Ibragimov, Chagaev, Sanders etc), Fury's best win is Cunningham, and Joshua is a prospect barely even up to British level yet.

Is someone going to tell me why Wlad struggles more with his smaller opponents than he does bigger ones? Beariing in mind the big guys are so much better

It does not matter that this range seems thin on talent right now. But in principle this is something that should been done to level the playing field. It is maybe even a good time to do it now, because it does not involve changing the conditions for some big boxing "money cows". Eventually these new divisions will start to create their own history, like SMW and junior-middle, etc.

So you mean just restructure CW and HW then rename them?

Basically the entire top 10 is over 6'4" and 240lbs.

I would prefer just expanding LHW to like 185 and Cruiser to around 215 and then renaming Cruiser because its a ****** name, no one knows what it means, which is a huge contributor to why no one cares.
