yep it's duva/kovalev's fault. if they knew they were going to lose the purse bid that means kovalev/duva would have made a sh-it ton of money but i guess she didn't want that? stevenson/haymon should still make the fight on hbo but we know they won't because we already know they are cowards but duva proved she is almost as cowardly. she had stevenson cornered and she let him get away. pathetic.
Mean Events pull out of Stevenson Purse Bid

If it went to the purse bid, HBO was most welcome to put its money behind Duva and outbid Haymon.Be realistic here. Is there anyone here who would prefer to see this fight on PBC with it's lackluster, dull production compared to on HBO with Michael Buffer announcing the fight in the ring, with proper fighter entrances with blasting music and ring girls and decent announcers? It will be the biggest LHW fight in history, it will unify ALL the LHW titles, from the lowest rated to the lineal world title. Do you want it on PBC where not one of the title belts will be seen or even mentioned? The winner deserves to hold all the title belts high over his head and celebrate like the true undisputed, unified champion of the world!!!! Not have some faceless 'arena announcer' announce in a monotone, flat, unemotional voice that "the winner is XXXXXXX. Thank you for coming."
A fight like this deserves to be on the number one broadcast network for boxing and to receive top notch production values and all the glitz and glamor that go along with a major championship title fight. It does not belong on the lowest common denominator PBC show.Comment

i guess both sides are cowards. which may be true hoestly. idc. what i don know is the reason purse bids exist is to overstep the negotiation process, which is what duva origninally wanted to do. but suddenly she backs down. u gotta call it like u see it. if she wants the fight, she shouldnt have pulled out. but she only wants the fight if it will happen in her best interests. which is cowardly around here depending on who's side u are onyep it's duva/kovalev's fault. if they knew they were going to lose the purse bid that means kovalev/duva would have made a sh-it ton of money but i guess she didn't want that? stevenson/haymon should still make the fight on hbo but we know they won't because we already know they are cowards but duva proved she is almost as cowardly. she had stevenson cornered and she let him get away. pathetic.Comment

who cares about winning a purse bid? if you lose a purse bid that is 50/50 that means your fighter makes more money. isn't that a good thing? also if you know you have the better fighter then what are you worried about? win the fight and return to hbo as a hero who crushed haymon's best. stevenson and haymon should still try to make the fight on hbo but duva just gave them an out.Comment

My point was that Duva dropped the bid because she knew she wouldnt be able to win it.who cares about winning a purse bid? if you lose a purse bid that is 50/50 that means your fighter makes more money. isn't that a good thing? also if you know you have the better fighter then what are you worried about? win the fight and return to hbo as a hero who crushed haymon's best. stevenson and haymon should still try to make the fight on hbo but duva just gave them an out.
I said this decision was more about pride for Duva than doing what's financially best. She would have gotten a lot of money and had the potential for Kovalev to fight Beterbiev and maybe Chavez Jr as well if she sided with Haymon and get other big paydaysComment

yes i agree with you there. kovalev already beat hbo's best light heavies. i understand not signing a contract with haymon but why not just be a free agent? if you have a great fighter like kovalev you are risking some security but the rewards would be huge if he performs the way everyone thinks he can. i think because main events is pretty sh-itty they didn't want to risk losing their gem. if they had other great fighters they probably wouldn't mind taking a bit of a risk.My point was that Duva dropped the bid because she knew she wouldnt be able to win it.
