All I know about Haymon is he advises or manages way too many fighters and far more than anyone in history. That's not illegal but how can the guy really do his best for every one of the huge number of fighters he handles. They are lucky to get a few minutes of his time. He manages rival fighters in the same weight class so how can he do his absolute best for all of them? If all these fighters want him to work for them that is their choice. If I was a boxer I would want a manager who wasn't spread so thin and who put my interests over everyone else. Sorry to get off topic. I know nothing about his TV deals but if it brings more good fights then great.

Personally i think it is way too early to judge.
His overall plan seems to be the 'UFC' model. Make the PBC the biggest, most talked about arena in boxing and then sign up all the talent on the back of that.
It will take time, but if he succeeds i think it will be a good thing. A model of boxing where the sport (or in this case the organisation) is bigger than the fighters is good for us as fans. Its something that I've wanted to happen for a long time.
However if he fails all he will have achieved is dividing the sport, and the talent pool, into yet another fragment, which in turn cheapens and weakens boxing as a brand.

GBP has long had actual shareholders. Before they divested, did you question whether GBP was 'pro fighter' or more loyal to AEG 'when the chips were down'?
When Top Rank is willing to let real (Macau casinos) and imaginary (Falcon Hawk) investment groups foot the financial bill for his cards, did you question where his loyalties lie?
Look at Main Events dilemma now. Will they let Kovalev get that money when a (in all likelihood) Haymon funded purse bid victory sets up the Stevenson fight? Or is she more interested in protecting her 'relationship' with HBO by never approving that fight?
Again, not sure where all the newfound 'concern' is coming from.
I have never seen anyone actually make this argument. Seems strawman to me.
GBP and Top Rank are both PROMOTERS. Al Haymon is NOT a promoter, in fact he has gone through great pains not to be considered as a promoter by taking on the title of either advisor or manager or both in some cases. But he has NEVER been a promoter and is actually prevented from acting as a PROMOTER by the ALI ACT.
Look it up. You might find it interesting.

A good lot of these Haymon Haters are just jealous the dude's taking over boxing. They're afraid he'll top Don King and Arum as promoters.
Dude's a multimillionaire, and the haters are barely scraping by earning a living.
But watch the PBC fights they must.

Basically, you're worried that Al Haymon might pick the investors over the fighters in PBC model. This while you exult the current model where you KNOW promoters and networks pick their own interest above all, leaving your favorite fighters twisting in the wind either underpaid (Kovalev), shut down over contract disputes (Ward; Mikey Garcia) or fighting in some random locale/casino (Macau) while they're lining their pockets with unshared site fee money and broadcast revenues.
Again, why is this 'loyalty' question now such a hot button for you? Why act like Al Haymon is some 'new' evil to this sport?Last edited by Sweet Jones; 04-10-2015, 09:41 AM.

You are right. It does take time to build a brand. You know that. I know that. The investors who invested in PBC know that, just as the investors who invested in Microsoft, Apple and even the UFC knew that. All serious investors know that it will take two to three years before they see a profit from any new company or venture that they have invested in.
However, the simpletons on this site think that every new business should make a profit from the start or it is a failure, so they think that the PBC and Roc Nation are complete failures.
I hope the PBC is a huge success, but even if it is not, I appreciate the fact that it will help provide up with as much boxing on television as we see of pro baseball, football or basketball per year. And just like those other professional sports, we will see some mismatches, but we will also get to see some great quality contests.
The simpletons who criticize Haymon either don't understand that or just looking for an excuse to criticize him because he is associated with Floyd Mayweather.
