Why don't people get what Haymon is doing?

So you see no problem with having one person making all the decisions in the sport, controlling everything and locking out those who refuse to sign with him?So typical.
Blaming PBC for not addressing the 'real problem' like 'the political in fighting between promoters', when in fact PBC, if successful, will all but eliminate the power and influence of the same greedy and corrupt promoters that fighters and fight fans have been complaining are ruining boxing for the past 40 years.
But you're too busy b!tching about the lack of ring girls and in-ring entourages (seriously, bruh?) to see the big picture.
But do you.
I do not want ANY SINGLE PERSON having that much control over the sport. Not Haymon, not Arum, not Oscar, NO ONE. Let Haymon cancel all his personal contracts with all his fighters and run his boxing league and I have no problem with it. Having one person running everything while at the same time being his employees advisor and manager is too crooked for my taste. He either represents his investors and his new boxing organization OR he represents fighters. One or the other, not both. That is a conflict of interest and anyone who is unable to see that is either blind or just ******.Comment

PBC would have a great chance to really put boxing in the fore front. He wouldn't even have to play nice with other promoters, if he just matched up his fighters better. That then would force other promoters to up the ante.So you see no problem with having one person making all the decisions in the sport, controlling everything and locking out those who refuse to sign with him?

But the way this is playing Out, his top fighters will only fight twice a year in showcase events..Comment

They've had three cards so far. Give them time.
IMO, it looks like they are introducing their stable to new fans through competitive fights and alot of human interest stories of those fighters. The next logical step is to start matching some of those guys that fans have been introduced to.
Broner is positioned for the winner of Peterson/Garcia. You could now potentially put Thurman in a Berto/Porter matchup as a prelude to a potential Mayweather matchup. And so on......
It'll take time though.....Last edited by Sweet Jones; 04-09-2015, 06:10 PM.Comment

It's not me they need to attract, it's the casual channel surfers.. They may need to move soonerThey've had three cards so far. Give them time.

What will happen is that other promoters will freeze Haymon out. The recognized sanctioning bodies, which are world wide and not focused on the US market like Haymon and the PBC are, will stop sanctioning PBC events.PBC would have a great chance to really put boxing in the fore front. PBC is fine for those who think the world begins and ends with the US market and US fans, but unfortunately for them, it does not. Boxing is an international sport and Haymon may simply end up fragmenting the sport into the US market and the rest of the world.
And unlike some people here, I do not believe that boxing has enough fans to sustain the PBC model with the amount of money they are spending on purses. I think the audience ratings they are pulling down right now are about the best they can expect to get and while they may fluctuate up and down, you will never see 10 million people tuning in to a PBC event.Comment

The reason some people don't get it, is because they are too preoccupied acting like spoiled b****.I keep seeing these arguments about how he's losing so much money. Blah blah blah. He has no advitisors. Etc.
Haymon has paid for 2 plus years of network TV air time already. Whether or not you like it or whether it fails or succeeds you will be watching the majority of boxing on PBC network tv cards for the next two years.
It takes time to build a brand. I kind of like it. People are simple minded and don't want to work for WHT they watch. Haymon wants people to see PBC and think big time boxing. The best. Whether it's true or not. If people actually began to associate with boxing like that all the haters are in trouble. He will get a big network deal. He will bring in new fans. He will make a profit. And he will be here to stay.
That's the era we live in ... Kids flip-out and throw tantrums because they didn't get a new iphone\ipad for Christmas and now they moms or pops are pure crap. lol!!!!Comment

my only issue, as a person in the uk who never pays for any fights any way, is this: the fight cards have been barely average so far.I keep seeing these arguments about how he's losing so much money. Blah blah blah. He has no advitisors. Etc.

now, as you say, its still early days but i highly doubt the biggest and best fights will be on network tv, boxing is primarily built on a ppv model, if broner has a big fight, its gonna be ppv (just an example).
so what is the point of the network deal? put on average fight cards so people get put off boxing? im yet to be convinced.Comment
