But if major private equity firms are backing you, its a good sign that you have a great business plan...
These guys make money by funding startups like PBC.. Its their business to evaluate the ROI and Cap M pricing and see if its feasible....
And we all know how great a success the XFL was.

How much money is UFC getting off their bud light deal sponsorship????

It would not be considered a startup, but a new spin on an existing product.

XFL was a joint venture with no private equity involved, it was wwe and nbc funding the whole thing...
Remind me again of the major #1 organization in boxing,, what is like the NFL in boxing...
Once again, your coming up short, and just spouting off about stuff you have no idea about...

You think it'll work, I'll wait and see and enjoy the extra boxing on tv in the meantime.

why don't you log off and read about it..... there are numerous articles about the private equity firms involved.... but its kinda obvious reading business articles is not your thing

They expect this thing to be profitable, and take over day 1 or its a failure..
it took UFC and WWE many years to achieve that level, and if Haymon plays his cards right and follows the blueprint, he should be successful...
There is a reason why the networks and sponsors are leery about boxing..
Its because its the most corrupt, unorganized sport in history, thats why haymon is trying to distance PBC from the Status quo in boxing... It has a bad reputation and he is avoiding it and trying to do his own thing and not be associated with the boxing blackeyes that have plagued the sport for years

Comparing PBC to WWE and UFC and MLB and the NFL is pointless and irrelevant. It is an attempt to cloud the waters. This is not the first time boxing has been attempted on network television. It did not work in the past and it will not work today as a major financial success. We live in a world where parents are pulling their kids out of little league football and peewee hockey is banning body checks due to head injuries. Do you really think boxing with people getting their heads beat in will be a main stream success?
The only time boxing has ever been successful on modern television was in the days of Wide World of Sports who presented the occasional big fight. Apart from the odd super fight, boxing was almost always presented as part of an anthology sports show.
Those shows no longer exist as they have been replaced by dedicated sports television networks.
It's a niche sport, it will remain a niche sport. It will never compete with team sports on a financial basis and they do not belong in the same thread.

Haymon spends 60 mil on fighters, 25 mil on productions costs, him and investors pocket the rest.. Plus they still have ticket sales and in ring sponsors..
Private equity would not be messing with Haymon if he didn't have a great plan and a chance for big money down the road...
I agree that he needs stars, and thats why they aren't worried about between round commercials and instead focusing on highlighting upcoming fights/fighters//
The key is to get people to know the fighters, once they know the fighters, fans will have a connection..
NFL does great at this, because college football makes stars and once they hit the NFL they are know commodities i.e. tebow, manziel, etc....
the key to all sports and especially combat sports is that the audience knows the fighters/athletes
70s and 80s were huge for boxing because the olympics and free tv established guys like duran, leonard, hearns, ali, etc etc....
Haymon is trying to recreate that... It will take time, but the key is to make guys like broner, ghost, maidana, khan, thurman, porter etc into known names like duran, camacho, spinks, etc were...
The only way to do that, is to constantly bombard the casual fan, which is what PBC is doing in their first few broadcasts
