This. I've literally never heard them even mention the other champions in their broadcasts. PBC doesn't have the best fighters in most divisions. This just feeds of the ignorance of casuals.

it took UFC and WWE many years to achieve that level, and if Haymon plays his cards right and follows the blueprint, he should be successful...

There is a reason why the networks and sponsors are leery about boxing..
Its because its the most corrupt, unorganized sport in history, thats why haymon is trying to distance PBC from the Status quo in boxing... It has a bad reputation and he is avoiding it and trying to do his own thing and not be associated with the boxing blackeyes that have plagued the sport for years
And Haymon has a pure as the driven snow reputation? PLEASE! The guy is the second coming of Don King.

I understand, but I just think starting from basically nothing but a few name fighters and big backing, is enough to take over such a large and history filled sport.
But, like I said, I'll be enjoying the shows.

I'm more impressed by the suggestion/rumour that Haymon might try and start his own streaming service for his fights as that sounds more in tune with the future than terrestial television. To me boxing will continue to be a niche sport, irrespective of what any promoter tries to do and that only intermittently, with a big enough star, will it generate any serious interest outside that and therefore generate big money.
Haymon is obviously a fantastic salesman. But all the big promoters are. Arum is too. Don King was arguably the greatest salesman in the history of the sport.

That's what they do. That's how they got to where they are.

          • One of the things Haymon is missing at the moment is a front man, Haymon for whatever reason doesn't like to be in the public eye that is fine really but when the money man or the guy with the vision is like that they need a mouth to get that vision out to the public.

In short he needs his Dana White or HHH.

Haymon's not squeaky clean himself. I imagine that anyone who is aware of this would be reluctant to get on board with his venture.

True, and I doubt his judgement is bad enough to use Schaefer.

Maybe Floyd? Floyd's image is poison but he's obviously trying to clean it up lately. Would be a stretch though. That defending Ray Rice shit will never be forgotten.

He definitely isn't doing himself any favors by staying in the shadows. He has like zero public image.

Not sure Mayweather's the kind of fighter you really want as the face of it.

That's what I'm saying. Fine acting that way if you're selling PPVs, but companies won't want to associate their brands with that shit.

When you think about it, Floyd's doesn't speak well enough to pull it off anyway. You could use someone like Hopkins who does speak well, but he has no levity or sense of humour and would eventually bore everyone senseless with his rambling lectures.

They do need someone though. DiBella? He's already in Al's pocket and is in many respects a boxing version of Dana. He's certainly loud enough.
