It matters because Ward is willing. He has already agreed to the UK. Froch should budge a little as well so the fans can get this fight. If Ward rejects another venue, then he's full of it. But until then, both sides should be trying. So far, only Ward has made concessions. So far, only Ward wants the fight.
Froch stripped of WBA title?

Ward did not ask for this fight and he did not want this fight. Ward wants a few tune ups first which no network is interested it. It is the WBA that mandated this fight in a move which was a huge surprise to everyone concerned. No one really wanted it, not the fighters or the fans.Comment

But I don't get his logic in agreeing to fight in the UK but rejecting Nottingham. What is the reasoning? It matters because Ward is willing. He has already agreed to the UK. Because Ward has no intention of going to the UK. If he accepted Nottingham, the fight would be made and he would have to travel. By not accepting Nottingham but being willing to fight in another UK venue, he looks good and can use Froch's unwillingness to move elsewhere in the UK as a reason not to go.
It's total BS on Ward's part. In the end, he comes out looking good, still does not have to travel and still does not have to get back in the ring to defend a title he should have been stripped of months ago.Comment

Yes that is exactly the case. Some people are duped by these fake public declarations.Because Ward has no intention of going to the UK. If he accepted Nottingham, the fight would be made and he would have to travel. I wouldn't be surprised if the two camps have agreed to this PR stunt.
Froch: "Ok I'll say I want to fight you but only at the City Groud"
Ward: "Cool, cool and I'll say I will come to the UK but not Nottingham"
Then a collective "Muhahahahahaha" from everyone involved.
I never believed this was going to happen. Froch wants Chavez, Ward wants a tune-up to get back into the groove. This WBA thing is an inconvenience to both.Comment

Only taking a fight at one venue your home town is a cop out. I dont think any other fighter could pull that especially when the champion is giving the rematch and come out without any criticismComment

When you're the B side you don't get it when and where you want it.
Take Kovalev, if the champ rematches Pascal, it'll be Pascal's choice of venue because he is the ticket-seller. Kovalev could turn it down but it would be his financial loss (he wouldn't be that silly).Comment
