Bernard had a deadline to make a mandatory defence of his title that he didn't want to fulfil, and the only way out of it was a unification fight. When he still hadn't had any word from Haymon on the evening before the deadline took effect, he phoned Duva and made the fight with Kovalev in a couple of hours.
One of us is misinformed. And of course Duva made the fight so quick. That's what light weight promoters do. You really think Haymon would've let Kovalev fight for that chicken scratch that Duva got him? That's what Haymon pays his dog walker.

Lol. What would you expect Yvon Michel to say? ... "Ok, sorry Kathy, I broke my word, now how much money do we pay you?"

Assuming Haymon wins the purse bid the fight either ends up on NBC or Showtime. NBC seems logical based on Haymon's model, but Stevenson doesn't have a lot of value to the PBC if Kovalev destroys him. If that happens it's a big showcase for the crusher and back to HBO he goes. Is that money well invested for them?

I would think SHO and HBO would pay a MASSIVE licence fee for this fight, like in the $4mil+ range.

But only you know the truth? Look at what's happening and stop being a fanboy. Stevensons going to vacate although it was his team that went to the WBC. Stevenson is scared of Kovalev however his team are the ones making all the moves. Bro your all over the map.

That's what BHop said happened, and that's what Duva said happened, and BHop did have a deadline to beat, which is why they made the fight that same night.

How much Haymon pays somebody to bring a ******* over when he feels like taking it up the arse is irrelevant.

Only I know the truth? You are a funny guy. Ok, if you really need to believe that Superduck has been wanting to fight Kovalev all along and Krusher is the one who's been running away, you go right ahead with that.

I mean, if Pac and Floyd can be made, why not other big fights. Make 2015 an epic year in the sport.

Last I read, Kovalev is a network free agent (http://www.boxingscene.com/hbo-main-...ev-deal--88647). That means that this purse bid comes at a perfect time. Either make a deal with Haymon for a PBC main event, or sign with HBO and ruin any chance this fight has of coming to fruition.

Imagine this fight on primetime NBC. That would be beautiful for this sport in America.
