Apparently HBO won't host Cotto's next fight unless Canelo is guaranteed next.

    Golovkin and Canelo are active.

Cotto's been on a one-fight-a-year pace since he lost to Austin Trout.

Cotto wants to sit out a year and fight a tune-up nobody cares about.

If he wants to do it, he can either agree to fight Canelo next, or do it somewhere other than HBO.

    Not that hard to understand.

Canelo fans have his same warped sense of reality. This guy actually says Canelo wants to fight in May and Sept but openly admitted he can't unless May/Pac leave. He then says Cotto can't even get a date himself, yet Cotto has sold out MSG on that date like 7 or 8 times now...

Only Canelo and his delusional fans are draws now for something they MIGHT do in the future, IF the other fighters retire or leave. So many conditions but they simply don't exist to ginger or his fans, it's just reality. I can see why most of them believe in god and are catholic too, it's easy to believe in total bull**** for some people.

Canelo HAD to fight on May 2nd in Vegas. Instead, he settled for May 9th in Houston and all because he was afraid to fight June in NY. Canelo openly said he would move the date of the Manny fight, his proposal was to face Cotto on PPV the very next week after a $100 PPV? Cotto knew how ****** that would be and said June 6th... Here we are 2.5 months from June and it's Canelo with the opponent not Cotto. It was Canelo who left negotiations not Cotto, just stop.
"they was gonna move the date doe" "canelo gave him deadlines doe"

but they completely forget that cotto doesn't care about no cinco de mayo date and doesn't want to "compete" for ppv numbers.

The irony of Canelo wanting to fight in the USA on these major Mexican holidays is really funny to me. I would think if these dates mean as much to him as he says he would be fighting in Mexico where most of his base is.

You guys really need to learn how to read... the ratings are not what I was arguing. This clown said HBO is the gold standard because they are saying Cotto can't fight K9, yet he's fine with Canelo/Kirkland and GGG/Bum 200. His defense was "they bring ratings" as if Cotto doesn't, HBO isn't worried about being the "gold standard" of boxing. They'll put on just as ****ty fights as Haymon has been if they get paid at some point. There is no golden standard except for money, that's the only standard.

                  Exactly
"While Penagaricano wasn't able to discuss any specifis, Cotto's return is still being targeted for the month of June. The network has not been determined. Various sources indicate to boxingscene that both HBO & Showtime are very interested in showcasing Cotto's next fight. I love how these 'various sources' are never identified in any way. Probably a bunch of Internet bloggers and forum posters.
