Apparently HBO won't host Cotto's next fight unless Canelo is guaranteed next.

It's funny you mention that, considering Cotto lost the Puerto Rican Day Parade date at MSG.

It'll be like Verizon giving you a brand new Iphone at the discounted price with no contract and giving you the option to jump to AT&T once you get the phone. They're willing to lose money on the sale of the phone just so they can lock you into a 2yr agreement and make their money on the back end. If you don't want a contract then you must pay full price for the phone.

Like anything else its just business.
      Lol great great analogy bro.

ggg knows the cotto fight wont happen he will get the title one way or another..
the best option for hbo and cotto now is to do cotto-k9 and then have that title in the line for the canelo fight...
He can fight his voluntary next, then fight canelo at 154, would be a non title fight, then he can fight GGG after

i dont think it works that way javi, if that is the case cotto can spend the rest of his career without using his voluntary defense and dont even have to fight ggg.. i believe this time the wbc is really pushing for ggg to get the shot...

May 9th will almost certainly have the biggest HBO boxing audience all year.

Speaking of the previous negotiations, though, you don't even know if Cotto can get the same deal as last time.

HBO is applying the pressure to Cotto, not Canelo.
So, Canelo instead of being on the undercard is the main event of Floyd's replays now and you guys are still riding on Floyds numbers to promote Canelo. Only you guys see being second fiddle on HBO in May as better than being a co-headliner in a PPV at MSG for the MW title. That's not cute, that's sad.

Yet GGG and Canelo can fight tomato cans and bums and be okay with it. Yet another boxingscene example of "your fighter can't do it, but my fighters can."

Canelo wants May and September fights.

With May/Pac likely out the rest of the year, he'll likely get his September date.

Cotto can't even get his PR Day Parade date.
