If GGG does NOT fight Quillin, Lemieux, Lee, Canelo and a couple of others, there will be those who will accuse him of ducking them. GGG needs to fight and destroy them as he has his other opponents. GGG needs to unify ALL the MW titles as that is what will give him a legacy. How many unified champions do we have today? Not one that I am aware of. Why should the man who has an excellent chance of achieving what few others ever have walk away from doing so? He shouldn't. He should do whatever he can to make that goal a reality. Then and only then should he consider moving up and only if there are quality, profitable fights to be made.

Don't forget that once he unifies the titles at MW, most all his fights will be PPV cards. He will be the only game in town and the number one target for anyone who wants to be someone at MW. Why should he walk away from that possibility only to end up with the same problems at SMW as he has now at MW?

I for one eagerly await the day when I hear Gennady Golovkin introduced as The Undisputed, Undefeated, Middleweight Champion of the World!!!

First of all Ward had nothing to lose, since he wasn't the favorite to win that tourney. As has been pointed out, his resume is rather thin outside of it. At least GGG is fighting Oosthwhatshisface type opponents 4 times a year instead of once every 2. Not GGG's fault that his division is a bit weak atm, that most of the top guys in it aren't in a hurry to fight him, or that he's a bit small for SMW.

As far as GGG turning pro at a late age, that's rather common outside the US. Rigondeaux, Lomachenko, Gamboa, etc.
Lomachenko jumped into the deeper end of the pool from the jump. Rigondeaux went after the kingpin of the division about when he had a dozen fights. Gamboa was fighting more serious opponents before he had ten fights.

Golovkin has been a pro boxer for eight years and he's yet to step into a fight that the general boxing fan saw as being competitive or that, omg, he was the underdog for.

Andre Ward, America's last male boxing Olympic gold medalist, debuted at 20, was brought along for five years (which many folks were clamoring about that pace slow-walking him), and then thrown into his first massive test against Mikkel Kessler, arguably the top guy at 168 heading in the Super Six tourney.

If Golovkin is supposed to really be the better than Ray Robinson, Hopkins, and Hagler, he should fight someone tough before he gets crowned (fighting a small and opportunistic Miguel Cotto, or a junior middleweight Canelo Alvarez, likely won't cut it).

Abraham vs Golovkin in Germany. Golovkin vs Sturm/Steiglitz in Germany. just to name a few.

Him versus basically any super middleweight in the top 25 is better that Golovkin-Heiland/Golovkin-Monroe/Golovkin-Johnson or any other nothing that that they're hoping HBO will pay for.

You're looking forward to another 15:1 fight for Golovkin? lol

Golovkin fights FOUR times a year, not twice or once like most other 'champions'. It is unrealistic to expect him to always have a top 5 contender in the ring with him as there simply aren't enough of them. And the other so called 'elite' fighters in the division don't have the stones to get in the ring against him. His next fight should rightly be against Cotto, but he's looking for an easy target instead.
          lol

The only names coming out of Team Golovkin's mouth are Cotto, Alvarez, and Mayweather. Yet 'Golovkin isn't chasing the little guys' GTFOH

He said he would fight Froch in the UK, crickets. Signed a contract for Chavez who then got cold feet.

they tried to fight froch and chavez. you know the little guys. ggg's trainer just had an interview where he said ward doesn't want to fight him so what exactly are you talking about? you seem confused. its like you want to hate on ggg but you have nothing so you are just making things up. why not just say he's ducking mora? that would probably make more sense.

Sturm, Stieglitz, Abe lol. These will be rematching each other till kingdom come. Sturm is probably the biggest Ggg ducker to date, and no chance washed up Abe goes near Ggg. Terrible suggestions

sorry i actually look at things with nuance. if i just looked at ggg vs heiland yea its not very good. but why isn't it very good? because the relevant guys either ducked ggg or aren't available. i'm not going to fault ggg because that happened. ggg's going to fight 4 times and that's a good thing. his popularity keeps rising and the more he fights the more pressure is put on the top guys.
