You add the prospects of fights like Thurman vs Maidana, Garcia(assuming he wins) vs Guerrero, and others, happening and things are looking good.

That's a really good number. People don't sit in front of a tv as much any more and there are so many options online for stay at home entertainment. This isn't the old day where there were only a few channels and no other options. The idiots saying its not good based on the number of people in the US need to put down the keyboard.

To put things in perspective, Fresh off the Boat, a new sitcom with the guy from the interview gets 8+ million per episode. Pacquiao vs Algieri got 48 million viewers in China alone.

If this wasn't a timebuy, NBC would've canceled the next show asap
You are ****** PAC fight was a failure even in china no matter how Bob spins it ...those numbers are great ...over 3 million ...don't forget everyone is not a boxing fan ....Al will kill all the views from top stand and golden girl promotions

Not bad at all for a first outing. I know Haymon is ecstatic about winning the 18-49 demo since that's most important for advertising revenue. Successful first night for the PBC all around. The only draw back was that dud Broner-Molina 'fight'.

Decent inaugural program, but geez I hated all the glitz and hyperbole. Guess I only THOUGHT Lampley was outta control with that crapola. And man, they need to find SOMEONE, ANYONE to replace Ray Leonard. Freaking Bernardo Osuna is better than him, and Bernardo sux big time.

But hey, over the airwaves network moolah gets alot done. I just hate they had to basically turn the sport into some cheap 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire' type set up. I kept waiting for them to wheel Regis Philbin out there on a handtruck so he could blabber and flail away like he always does.
            HA!

Viewership aside, I thought the event didn't lead up to the hype. When I first saw the ads and commercials for PBC, I thought to myself, "oh crap, this looks good! The quality of production looks killer..." but as we often see with movies, the trailers were much better than the actual show.

The ring walks were horrendous, awkward, and incredibly underwhelming. The ring announcer; the blow-by-blow analysis and commenting were pitiful, at best; they could have done so much more to make a spectacle out of it. After all, wasn't that the purpose? Wasn't the purpose to really go out there and try to show mainstream TV that this **** is worth watching? Those of us who follow boxing will follow it to hell and back...but PBC wasn't really for us...was it?

These early numbers always go up when they get a better count in a day or so. So all in all a success in terms of ratings and demo.

Better than the recent UFCs on big Fox.

Better than the 1.2mill (1.7mill peak) Fury/Cunningham and the 1.6mill (3.2mill peak) Adamek/Cunningham did on NBC on a Saturday afternoon.

exactly. this was the real test and they succeeded to some degree.

UFC ALWAYS gets beat by reruns of CSI, Cops etc etc...it doesn't matter because the demo is old people.

It's a solid start, they just need to keep pushing it. If anything it showed that boxing can draw as much as UFC, nascar, NBA, baseball...basically anything other than the NFL.

But i'm still not confident that Haymon's plan will work with how much he's spending.
