I think Pascal looks bad here. He keeps asking why Kovalev is so fixated with VADA, but the same could be said for him with USADA. It almost looks like he's sponsoring USADA instead of just promoting more stringest testing for boxing. He acts like him proposing the testing (after the contracts are signed! ) is like him taking someone on a date, in which he chooses the place because he's paying.This is a business decision and the champion has the right to negotiate. Kovalev actually came back with a more efficient proposition, and with a company that has a better track record catching boxers cheating (Which I believe is the whole point of the more stringent testing).

I personally don't care who does the testing, but I do know Memo doesn't trust VADA and coincidentally his fighters haven't used it as far as I know. Taking into account his history and how much he's against it, I just think he doesn't trust his fighters to come up clean with VADA.

Pascal doesn't use USADA, he uses an independant agency based in Montreal who are affiliated with WADA. I don't know why the writer of the article threw a reference to USADA in between the quotes from Duva, all that does is confuse the issue even more.

I think the position they ended up with was that Pascal could use his own agency if that was what he wanted to do, but that Kovalev would only use VADA, because Klimas didn't know anything about the Montreal outfit.

Why Pascal would only pay if Kovalev used his agency, which is over 4 times more expensive than VADA, only Pascal knows.

Hey dummy where did I say Pascal was using USada??? I see reading comprehension is not your strong suit ******. I was talking about the need to mention usada in this article. Do you even read or do you jump straight into the comment section to be a tough guy?

Theres barely a mention of Usada in the piece, not even close to throwing them under the bus. Nice attempt at backtracking, but fail just the same

If Pascal is willing to pay, why not pay less for a more proven agency? We go back to that pesky conflict of interest

Honestly, they are probably both juicing but Pascal seems very intimidated by VADA and I surmise that Duva knew he would be and would back off of his demands.

Kovalev wasn't begging for anything. Taking random tests of any kind was a voluntary concession by him, something he wasn't required to do by the contract he signed, so he had every right to a say in which agency he used.

That's a fair point, for some reason I thought Pascal wanted USADA only. i still feel that if the testing is equivalent why not go with VADA? The purpose of the testing is to prove both fighters are clean, and VADA has successfully separated the cheaters from the clean fighters before, so why not go with it. It's not like VADA is more expensive.

Like I said before, this is a business, and Pascal can't expect to just tell the champion what to do and have him oblige without him making countering back with something.

A couple of things don't look right to me; one being that this is the second time Jean brings this up after negotiations are done, and secondly, I feel Kovalev countered with a valid proposition.

IMO if Pascal really wants to prove both fighters are clean, he needs to negotiated in the contract and be flexible in regards to who does the testing when he's not the champ.

Not if he's unwilling to pay for the test. If he was willing to pay for the test, then by all means, by default he has the right of say for what agency he wants. But he was unwilling to pay for it!

Sure it wasn't something that he signed, but if he says, hey, I'll do testing but I'm not paying for it, then you forfeit the right of what agency is chosen. It would be different if he offered to pay for it himself. But he did not.

Memo + no drug testing equals one guy getting knocked unconscious and one getting sent across the ring into the ropes and almost out of them altogether lol.. Kovalev better watch out..
Then with testing a boring 7-5 loss where his guy gets rocked and almost dropped late in the fight and has almost no points where he shakes the other guy up with his power at all.. Hmm... Oh and zits the size of the tips of your thumbs on his chest... Just sayin...
