What we saw in the Rubio fight was the Illusionist and Magicians of TV(HBO) attempt to create a "New" fanbase for Golovkin and a desire by the Powers that be for Latinos, specifically Mexicans to adopt Golovkin because of the similar style he has to Mexicans.

Nothing wrong with that by the way, its smart business as they would put it, but lets be REAL lol, Golovkin has a ways to go to capture the hearts and minds of another Ethnic group on ANY TYPE of comparable level with his PREDOMINATELY White fan base, especially being from Northern Europe, or Kazakhstan, non- American.

That was not part of the original statement that I responded to. Guy won the belt and can hold it until otherwise. It is how the game works, and you can knock Cotto if you want not even a big fan of his.

It is a situation that was very foreseeable when HBO (the same HBO that pushes GGG as the real champ) pressed for Martinez-Cotto. It is quite obvious who the loser in that scenario is and it isn't who is involved because that fight led away from Golovkin.

Generally speaking in boxing a guy gets a free first defense, Cotto hasn't even done that yet. I don't get mad at anyone who wins a belt until that second defense, so I get why you are mad but it is like getting mad at water for being wet.

It does suck for Golovkin, which is the point of the article, but to change his situation he needs to bite the bullet do something he doesn't really want to do to move beyond this quagmire he is in.

True again. There's no longer a huge "Black American" or Cuban fanbase etc, but the 2 biggest would be White and Latino's that's right again, but in "context" Golovkin STILL doesn't have a HUGE Mexican fan base and doesn't have a HUGE white fan base in America, but from Europe and abroad.

In America he's being Hyped, and while there's again NOTHING WRONG with having a diverse fanbase, if he ever get's one that STILL DOESNT PROVE he's a "good", "very good", or "Great fighter". Fighting and beating convincingly ,"very good" or "great fighters in the ring is where the proof lay silent still to this day.

Again he's proven very little in the ring, except against very inferior competition, and until he steps up his competiton, I will continue to feel nauseated when Golovkin is mentioned or compared with the REAL Great fighter's of the past.

And yes, HE IS getting the "Great White hope" type of treatment by Fan-cults and Media alike imo.

ah Valero, remember him quite well, I remember that he beat Antonio DeMarco in his prime, a "good" some would say "very good fighter" with some pop in his punches, strong willed, and he quit on his stool, the Power that Valero could generate was awesome.

He's was quick, crafty, shifty, could box, move and ****, didn't need to set his feet to generate power, like Golovkin does etc, and Valero had NO HUGE FAN BASE in America either, but there was no question the guy was a "Great Talent".

But name me 1 PPV Valero headlined?...........exactly, plus he wasn't WHITE, which is why he wasn't getting the BIG PUSH FROM CORPORATE WHITE AMERICA....., didn't have that "clean cut boy next door look" there attempting to pla·gia·rize on the fans with Golovkin.

Golovkin possess what besides Power?, how is he truly versatile?.........there's no comparison imo even with Valero.
