I like how it's cool to write articles about how ducking is the smart business decision. Let's downplay the fact Cotto is the lineal champ and pass it off like he's just another meaningless title holder. I thought boxing fans are supposed to care about the integrity of lineal titles? Or has that time passed?

I get that people are killing Cotto for not fighting GGG. At some point though, GGG has to accept the situation he is in and do something about it.

The easy thing is to keep saying cotto should vacate. We all know he is one of the top 5 biggest star in the sport and the sanctioning bodies are not going to strip him because they get a ton when he defends. So knowing this why not suggest realistic options for GGG?

He can go up to 168 and fight a name there. He can start calling out Canelo-another big money fight- and not Cotto. Again, this means he doesn't get the lineal MW title right now that he wants, but it does give him a chance to get big fights.

GGG vs Cotto Next after the Pac vs Jr fight or Cotto should just get in the ring and hand him the belt.

SMH @ Fitzsimmons suggesting that GGG just kiss as much ass as it takes to get people to fight him. Concessions won't do it. These cowards won't get into the ring with him because he is a beast and they're afraid. If he's not able to get the big fights because he is feared, it's up to the sanctioning bodies to call for mandatory fights. It's ridiculous for a fighter to not be able to reach his full potential because he's too good. It's also ****** to suggest that GGG should move above his natural weight to fight bigger guys just because the fighters in his division are b1tches. If he has to do that, then something is seriously wrong with boxing.

I did not realize that an "iterim" status was so important. I am only asking because Golovkin was wearing that WBC Champion t-shirt and that WBC belt across him after the fight with Murray as if he is the real WBC champ and not their ridiculous "interim" version. I am just wondering what GGG's motive happens to be. Is he hoping to embarrass Cotto so much that he will be compelled to fight him?

Cotto has no intentions of competing at 160 and he shouldn't. He isn't a MW.

So why is he holding on to the belt?

Because he won the right to?

I doubt he'll be able to hold onto it for long. He'll either be forced to vacate it (if he dosesn't defend it), or he'll lose it to a legitimate MW contender.
